Sunu's Indian and Bangladeshi Cuisine — Restaurant in Tendring

I went to this restaurant on the recommendation of friends and was delighted with the quality, freshness and variety of the food on offer. From the outside the premises appear diminutive, appearances however can be misleading as the interior was Tardis like with plenty of seating. Service was generally excellent and the wait staff attentive without being over zealous. The menu that is given to you is rather basic, comprising a clipboard with a piece of paper folded in half and the various dishes listed thereon. Some of the specialist items could do with a description of what comprises the dish as we found ourselves having to ask staff. Our table of four was, we felt, overlooked as another table of four seated adjacent to us arrived after we did but ordered and received their food well before us. To be honest I was on route back from my normal Indian when I discovered I needed more food but was to far away and was passing through Thorpe so I thought I would try this Indian which I had heard good reviews about furthermore I proceeded to order 3 simple dishes,a korma, Nan and a pillar rice at 6:40 and was told 20mins; baring in mind this was perfect as it would only mean a ten min wait by the time I arrived as I had food in the motor,once arrived at the restaurant I felt as though they were more concerned with the people eating in rather than there takeaway customers even trying to strike a convo but nothing…I might have just sent a postcard to the family as I didn’t think I’d be returning home that night may have brought a blanket and a pillow and became apart of the furniture basically forty minutes passed and then after complaining and asking for my food you may aswell call the waiter hoodini as he’s pulled my food out of nowhere 🪄will not...

Restaurant overbooked beyond staff capacity. Head waiter was unpleasant to our party on entering the restaurant because we were greeted by another member of staff. Service to get served with drinks took 20 minutes. another 45 minutes to get order taken. Header waiter was rude and unjustifiably impatient. He started walking off before order was finished. After 1hr 30 minutes, the Head waiter was again rude about the time it was taking for the food to arrive claiming to be short on staff. No apology. Party about to leave but (delivery driver) said food on its way at 1hr 40mins. Food eventually arrived and was excellent. We were offered 20% off the bill but the maths worked out to be 16%.
