Had the most amazing ciabatta panini in a long time. The food was fresh, tasty, and prepared to order. A huge selection of Italian meats, cheeses, and wines. We just stopped for a takeaway but were treated like regular customers by the amazing owners and staff. It was like one happy family. The proprietors travel to Simeone near Lake Gada monthly to stock up, and this is really evident in the quality of the food. The olive oil was extremely special. Will definitely return if passing by again. My husband read their great reviews, and we dropped in on our way to The New Forest for a much needed snack and a cool drink. They pulled us into the restaurant to sit and cool down in front of some amazing fans. So welcoming and truly interested in their customers. Gave us some great advice on the local area so we'll definitely visit again. Thank you all for your beautiful welcome and delicious food. 😋

We search high and low for places like this. It's very small, so book ahead. Excellent freshly cooked food (Chef/owner cooks each dish in a tiny kitchen at the front of the restaurant in the window!) All products imported from Italy. Would have liked some classic Italian background music, but it didn't matter, the food made up for that. Great selection of homemade cakes for dessert and very good quality, privately imported, wine too. I should have taken more photos without my camera shy, beautiful partner! Anyway, we will definitely be back, and next time, share it with some of our friends.

Meat platter and bruschetta was pleasant as starters. But when pasta arrived, the tomato sauce from the Tortello literally tastes like blended tomato from the can, and the pasta itself is almost tasteless. The bolognese looked tasteless but surprisingly not, because the beef tasted soooo strong that I mistook it as lamb and no tomato sauce could mask it. Couldn’t swallow anymore after two bites. Long wait from ordering the food until it actually arrives as well, given only 1 chef cooking for all customers.

The definition of bad front of house, please note the Scottish waitress was lovely but unfortunately the experience was totally let down by the owner / front of house. She was rude, opinionated, arrogant and stuck up. Although there is a lovely display of wine around the restaurant, there is no wine list and you are forced down the house wine route with no prices mentioned. It’s very hard work to move off this and she talks to you as if you have no knowledge of Italian wine and she is the encyclopaedia of all things Italian and of course you are never in the right. We managed to try another option and settled on that, still no pricing mentioned. The food arrived and was incorrect and not what was ordered, they disagreed and stated what we had was beef, when it was very clear in both smell and taste it was the Lamb, which was also on the menu. Our bill arrived and the drinks had not been included, this was an error on their side and this was confirmed by the owners face as she checked our bill before we payed. As we left she stopped us and decided to point out that she had left the drinks off on purpose as a good will, utter lie and just dug a larger hole.

Overall, such a shame as we had great expectations, in all the food was ok but the experience was 100% destroyed by service and arrogance...

Booked late on Saturday morning for a table for 6 pm spoke with Dave who explained that they were really busy, but if we could be cleared by 7:30 pm they could fit us in. We arrived and were sat at a table for four, the table was nicely layed, the decor inside was boutique and cosy. The waitress arrived with complementary water, menus and took our starters and drinks order. She came back promptly with our starters and explained the specials board and took our orders. We all ordered from the specials menu with 3 different pasta meals, the food was first class. Just before 7:30pm we were asked if we could move to another table to allow the party of six who had booked for 7:30 to be seated. Mandy made sure everything was moved to our new table, really she couldn't do enough for us. We left Prego at 7:55pm at no time were we pressured to leave. We had a lovely evening with a great atmosphere. Mandy and Dave are the perfect hosts who really made you welcome, the waitresses were very attentive and explained everything to us. If you're looking for good freshly made Italian food then I would highly recommend Prego.

Thank you for a lovely...

On behalf of our team (a local business located just outside of Stockbridge) we want to say a huge THANK YOU for such incredible food, amazing service... and a genuine feeling of being in a small boutique restaurant in Lake Garda, rather than just around the corner from our office.

Dave and Mandy served up an absolute storm of delicious antipasto, bread, cheese, chutneys, olives, meats, bruschetta and sundried tomatoes (huge platters), followed by fresh, homemade pasta dishes ranging from traditional carbonara to sweet chilli prawn pasta, seafood ravioli and out of this world spaghetti bolognaise. To top it all off - a selection of decadent Italian desserts to share. Mandy warmly explained each dish to us, and made sure we were topped up with refreshing drinks as we enjoyed each course.

What an amazing experience and it's safe to say we didn't leave much washing up...! And I think it's also safe to say we'll now be firm regulars.

Watch out for...
