Racist Blond Waitress - Worst service in Hertfordshire I should have reported that blond old waitress to the police last Saturday who humiliated me and my friends in front of everyone in the pub. She saw us getting out of the car in the car park and entering the pub. Straight away she started yelling at us (without us even saying a word to each other), she pointed her finger at us screaming like an animal, saying "You're not gonna be served here! You are definitely not being served here I saw you outside" I think she must have been drunk or lost her tablets as we haven't done anything at all. Parked our car and calmly walked inside. We were planning to have dinner and have a couple of drinks, and return home with an Uber. I don't know what made her think we were unreasonable and unsafe to be served. Ohh we were the only foreigners.... Funny enough my partner was in the pub 2 weeks ago with his English mate and they were being served with no problems..The attitude that this old and ugly person (not human) presented is unacceptable, clearly demonstrated anti social behaviour!!!! Shame on you and the way you are working disgusting woman. Never mind, Paper Mills didn't mind taking our money and being friendly...
Read moreWe chose the Unicorn to have a family meal as it is halfway between our Berkshire and Essex homes (there was 11 of us) I booked via telephone and spoke to the landlady who was very friendly and helpful. We arrived to find a long table set up for us, and as we were all arriving at different times, we were not put under any pressure to order food Asap. There were no starters on the menu, but we were too busy catching up to worry about that. There was a good selection of Sunday roasts (including vegetarian) as well as other usual pub food. Between us we had roast beef, pork, turkey and nut roast and everyone said how nice their food was (and good portion size) There was a good selection of desserts as well, but the home made bread pudding and custard was excellent. Once we had finished eating, the table was cleared, but we were under no pressure to leave, even though we stayed on for a bit talking, without buying any more drinks. All the staff in the pub were very friendly and helpful, especially the landlady (sorry, didn't...
Read moreWhat a lovely pub that we could have completely missed if circumstances hadn’t lead us here. Tried to book a few restaurants closer to our hotel when visiting Harry Potter Studio Tours this weekend, but due to the current situation many were closed for food, which lead us to The Unicorn. Ordered our drinks and the Guinness was perfectly served. The girls drinks looked elegant in their glasses. Ordered food, chilli nachos x 2, bangers and mash and a child’s pasta. All beautifully homemade and delicious. The landlady was fabulous. Really welcoming and we had lovely conversation with her. Her staff were helpful and polite. Thierry, the pub dog, kept us company throughout out meal but left us as soon as the plates were cleared. He was perfectly behaved. Quick trip to the spotless loos and on our way into the night but only after the landlady made a special effort to catch us to say goodbye. That made us feel very special. Thank you. If we were locals, this would definitely...
