Just WOW! Fantastic meal for great value tonight. 5 adults and a 3 year old all had 5 star meals: 2 x beef bourguignon, 1 x Cauliflower Sharma, 1 x bubble & squeak and 1 x pork tomahawk (pictured) & 1 x kids pizza. All meals were EXCELLENT - tried the Sharma which was delicious, didn’t get a chance to try the bourguignon as both disappeared v quickly. M-i-L’s bubble and squeak and wife’s Sharma are both meals I will try to imitate as they were fantastic. My pork tomahawk was sublime - cooked to perfection, the sauce complimented perfectly and the chips were cracking too! Actually nothing to fault as the pizza was excellent too. Had panna cotta between main meal and dessert which was in line with the main meals - delicious (I’ve run out of complimentary adjectives). Went with chocolate dessert (I rarely get the chance as I have an allergy to nuts and peanuts), FFS - AMAZING!! The wife declined dessert then ate 1/4 of mine after tasting it. Coffee was great, piggy blinders was a great pint and the ladies enjoyed a decent bottle of white. Service was attentive, friendly and professional. We all felt the bill was excellent value (~£150). A perfect evening meal for our holiday and only gutted that we only tried this on our last night in Devon. My wife and I will definitely have this as a return trip if we come anywhere in Devon again. Could not recommend enough - do yourself a favour and book in for an exceptional occasional with very good value.

We had heard some time ago that this pub had been taken over once again (think this is the third time since we first went there(2003?). The first time we raved about the food, especially their burgers. The second take over was a good venture but lacked that local pub feel. This latest take over feels even more touristy, probably cuz it's near Westward ho! a major tourist destination. It appears the land has been sub divided (?) and the large parking lot and petting zoo area hav mostly disappeared. Upon arrival we were hard pressed to find anyone (?) However did eventually locate the Grovenor and were shown a menu. We were told that they did do food in the afternoon. There were 4 entries on offer. None of which appealed but noticed that there was a larger offering later. So we ordered some beer (local brewery) and considered our options. We left and returned the menus. The long and short of it...no we didn't hav a good experience. I noticed the restrooms were clean and there was wheel chair access. The only positive I can report. The woman who served us was friendly but sat with friends on the deck. We felt completely ignored. Can't comment on the food as there was none involved. The beers were slightly "off". So left for greener pastures.

Before reading this please have a look at the snide response from the owners that they managed to get round to posting after a couple of years. I can only assume that they have spent the time moving the car park that the accommodation was located on when we went and silly things like putting locks on bathroom doors. Please note that nothing in their reply disputes the accuracy of my review and think to yourself "do I want to give money to this person?" Cannot recommend the accommodation that they have recently opened. There is far better, for less money, in the area. The lodges are on the pub car park, under equipped (every other place we have stayed in locally has had a freezer and a washing machine. I know this sounds picky but if you intend to go to the beach you have to either take tons of clothes or wear things covered in sand because you can't wash them) and unfinished. You couldn't even shut the bathroom door properly because half the lock hadn't been fitted. The bathroom's straight opposite the front door so the pub goers get a good look. There is decking behind the lodge which you can't use in the rain because there's no cover. The same goes for the hot tub with the added bonus of sun burn if you get a nice day.

The food was first class with me and now my wife being chefs for the last 15 years in high end hotels and restaurants the menu was great and had good choice for anyone to choice from

We had all the bar nibbles for our start as we were little pigs ( pardon the pun lol) Followed by the steak ribeye and I had the duck cooked to perfection lovely and pink both meats and the confit leg on the duck dish was lovely ,the chips on the steak were spot on,and the kale and sauce on the duck were great sauce was nice a rich

I had a ginger and rhubarb pannacota to finish lovely and not like cream jelly like you have in some place, light creamy and with little spice with a sharp sweet and sour from the rhubarb on top
