Where has this little gem been hiding? I've lived a good deal of my life in the Middle East, so I approached Beirut Lebanese Cuisine with a little trepidation. When you've eaten Lebanese food in its natural surroundings, it's hard to imagine that a little restaurant in Northern England might live up to your expectations. And not only that, I've been a regular visitor the past decade to two other excellent ME restaurants within a short few kilometres of Timperly, so I felt Beirut Lebanese Cuisine was probably going to disappoint. I was proved very wrong! Beirut Lebanese Cuisine served one of the best, if not the best, Lebanese meal I've had across the UK since moving to this country nearly 15 years ago. My wife and I stuck to a selection of starters, save for one main course of perfectly grilled Sea Bass, and every dish proved a taste sensation. Fresh, perfectly prepared, perfectly seasoned, and full of the flavours you'd expect to, and indeed demand, cross your palate when indulging in this very healthy cuisine of the Levant. Baba Ghanouj, Hummus, Cheese Bourak, Batata Harra (the perfect amount of "heat"), Vine Leaves (truly divine), Greek Salad, Arabic Rice (long grain white rice pilaf cooked with vermicelli noodles and real butter, and probably too, olive oil), Manakeesh Zaatar. Every dish a 10/10. No ingredient spared. My wife and I could find no fault. And the service was first class. So too the ambience. The tables are fairly close together, but still private, but the close proximity to your fellow patrons provides the perfect "vibe" once the room starts to fill and the chatter fills the air. From a value perspective, the BYO alcohol helps keep costs in check, and if you don't go as overboard on the food as we did, you can easily keep your food costs per person to below £40, and that included sharing a dessert of three pieces of perfectly sweetened Kanefeh (Layers of shredded pastry stuffed with pistachio and nuts baked with butter honey and sugar) and a pot of mint tea totaling £10. And parking too is no problem, and free! Just park directly outside the restaurant, but make sure you register the plate number on entry to avoid a local council parking infringement fine. Thank you Beirut Lebanese Cuisine! We will most definitely be back, and with friends and...
Read moreNeeds some serious improvements and quickly... Bad service, very average food and underhand charging! (and from the looks of things, lots of paid-for, fake reviews below)
I was recommended this restaurant by my father but after tonight, I might suggest that he goes somewhere else before he gets scammed.
Firstly, the service was atrocious. It took almost an hour to get our starters (which were barely warm), yet the mains arrived about 2 minutes afterwards (which we sent back as we hadn't touched the starters).
We also noticed that the shawarma hummus came as normal Hummus and mentioned this to the manager (thinking that they might remember to change that on the bill... not a chance of that!). The starters were relatively tasty but as mentioned, weren't warm and not accurate.
We then waited over 30 minutes for the main course to be served. Again, the food was ok but not great... lamb chops overcooked but not dreadful.
The main gripe was when we came to pay... the attached receipt shows the detail. As mentioned, the hummus didn't come with lamb but they still charged us... and at £7.30, I'd expect that it would come with pitta (NB. the pittas were doughy and cold), yet they felt like charging another £2.30 for the privilege... and one that we hadn't asked for! So, that's almost £10 for what was essentially a shop bought dip with some paprika and olive oil on top, and 3 doughy pittas that they couldn't even be bothered to pretend to be fresh by warming them up.
But that isn't the best of it.... what was completely wrong, was that when the manager asked if we wanted chilli sauce with the meals (like any normal request in a restaurant), he didn't tell us that the minuscule ramekin of chilli flavoured chopped tomatoes cost £2.75 each and he gave us 3 of them, which we barely touched. So, we were left to pay £8.25 for some random 'spicheal chef sauce' that we definitely wouldn't have ordered if we knew it cost more money.
In conclusion, don't bother. Yes, you can bring your own alcohol to this place but unless you're just there for a warm place to drink your stash from bargain booze, I'd go elsewhere... the kebab shop opposite will likely provide a better meal and include sauces...
Read moreShocking and rude service. Overpriced food and no clear boundaries for vegan and non vegan options. The first time we have used this local restaurant and it will be the last. We looked at the menu on one of the food delivery apps and we spotted a bamieh meal which was advertised as vegan. I chose this and hubby selected his meat option of a m8xed kebab. We also ordered chips, a chefs special sauce and some cheesy bread. We realised after selecting our meal preferences that we could collect ourselves so hubby went to the restaurant to order. When he returned and the meals were dished up the bamieh contained lamb 🤮. When we checked the receipt we had ordered correctly as per the online menu but, but after telephoning the restaurant it became apparent that they had made us the bamieh casserole which did contain lamb. Now if we had wanted the lamb version we would have requested the bamieh casserole and not jyst asked for the bamieh. The waitress who had served my husband argued that this was our fault for not being specific even though we had ordered as per their menu. Her attitude was very argumentative and obstructive. She offered to refund the £2 difference but we explained that the whole meal had been wasted as I didn't eat meat. She then passed us onto her manager whi, after 5 long minutes of arguing again told us to return the meal for a refund. The takeaway for 2 people cost £48 which was in my opinion excessive for the portion sizes. It was very oily and poor. But the experience was made much worse by argumentative staff. We returned the meal today complete with regurgitated lamb and again the owner was arrogant, blaming us not not ordering correctly. He finished off his interaction with us by childishly shouting thank you several times as we left the premises. The restaurant coincidentally at 5pm had not one person in eating. We understand that mistakes happen at times but to blame the customer and be so childish and uncooperative in a difficult economic climate is professional suicide. We will...
