Not been for a while and as it was a lovely sunny saturday in the middle of the school holidays, as you can imagine it was very busy. The food coming out of the kitchen (especially the freshly made pizza from the dedicated pizza kitchen) looked (and smelt!) amazing and was very fairly priced. Unfortunately due to how busy it was there was an hour wait on food so didn't get to try it this time. The beer garden was bustling with families, dogs and even a horse grazing on the grass! There is an outdoor bar / shack located in the beer garden that serves drinks but also does cheeseburgers and hot dogs for a quick snack. Next to that is a little 'tuck shop' for the kids with most items being only 10p. This was very popular with the younger ones. They even had a bouncy castle to go with the small play area which included a play boat! There was music both inside and outside the pub which added to the atmosphere. There is a section inside the pub that they allow dogs in, which even has a 'doggy' tuck shop where you can buy biscuits and treats. They have a large Belfast sink in the toilets to clean up if you get a bit muddy on the water park. The small car park at the side of the pub is now 'pay and display' with the minimum of 2 hours costing you £1 and going up to £5 for the whole day. Although you get your £1 (2 hours) back if you spend over £3 at the bar. There is also a metrolink/tram stop a few minutes walk from the pub, plus an additional larger car park just a 10 minute walk away near to the entrance of Sale water park itself. The pub is located right next to the canal and is a 5 / 10 minute walk from the lake at Sale Water Park. There is also a bicycle repair and hire shop across from the pub which is handy for those looking to enjoy the canal trails etc. Overall, a great pub where everybody (and every dog!) is welcome. It is especially nice during those warm sunny days that we occasionally have in this country! The staff that I encountered were very friendly, especially the lad on the outside bar. Myself and my family will definitely be frequenting Jackson's Boat on a more regular basis from now on. *Just be advised that on sunny days / weekends it can get quite busy so sometimes there is a long wait on food*

Honestly a 1 star for the service was generous. Came here with my daughter and mother in law, we arrived just after opening and as I entered the play park l i lost my foot down a hole in the ground at the enterance literally as you walk in ,almost snapping my ankle and hurting my knee falling onto my left arm bare in mind I currently have a broken left elbow in 2 places and a fractured wrist and this arm was the arm the broke my fall so now I require a trip back to a&e as my wrist and fingers have swollen and I'm in extreme pain. I went inside to ask if I could have some sort of anti septic wipe for my.knee and tried to explain what had happened but had to wait for the bar tenders to finish of there conversation that hen continued as I was asking for a wipe to be told no they didn't have one they'd go find a baby wipe at this point they are both staring at me almost as to say why are you even telling us totally unbothered by the fact there's a maive hazard that's not even been sign posted. When I explained what happened I got no response at all just did you want a drink? I ordered a drink for us all and they didn't even offer to help me with them to the table just plonked them infront of me. I pointed out the hole and they acted like it was the first time they had seen this hole and just shrugged!! As i couldn't really leave until my knee settled down my mother in law went to order my daughter a pizza and was told she had to wait until 12pm to order and it was 11.58pm so they made her stand there for 2 minutes to say "we ain't serving pizza today " so instead she ordered chicken strips and chips which you would expect being the first order of the day it would be fresh but clearly my expectations where a little too high and there was a lovely hair on the plate too which I noticed after my daughter finished eating. The menu is well burger basic sandwhichs chips pizza couple.mirco meals save you the job of reading it Staff look like they are being held againts their will and make you feel like your custom is a hindrance to them seen more welcoming people in a Morgue to be honest. £7 for a j20 appletiser and a water I mean I could of honestly fell down the hole and entered the rhelms of hell so yeah i wont be returning to say the least, ill be too busy eating soup with a fork thankfully.

I called in Today with my Younger Sister, we came for Lunch at 1.00 on a Thursday afternoon. I ordered a Guinness, only to be told "It was off" so I settled for a Lager. We ordered a Burger and Fish n Chips only to be informed, (after Paying) that there was No Fish available 😑 I ordered an 8oz Steak To be "Medium" cooked. When our Food arrived my Sister's Burger was Cold, I was given an Ordinary knife, I tried to cut into my Steak, it was Solid.. I finally cut a Piece and it was Bloody.. so I took my Meal to the Bar and asked to Speak to the Manager... the Barman, a very young man said, "I'll find her when I'm done here" the young server came passed and I asked him to return my Meal as I requested a "Medium" Steak. He agreed it wasn't "Medium" I also asked for a Steak knife. He returned some time Later with the Same COLD Chips, burnt COLD Tomatoes and my original cutlery. Minus a Steak knife. They had in fact re-Fried the Steak so it was now much Darker... yet Still Very Red and Bloody in the Middle. I enclose a Photo of said Steak. Unfortunately I didn't read previous reviews. If I had, I wouldn't be writing this Review as I certainly wouldn't have Come here Today. As I will Most CERTAINLY NOT be returning. It was a Complete Sham and possibly my most unpleasant Lunch experience EVER.

Called in to Jacksons Boat whilst on a walk around Sale Water Park & some of the trails & tracks along side the River Mersey. Inviting looking building next to a footbridge over the river down a leafy lane. I took advantage of fine weather to sit within large garden / outdoor area under canopy at the side of the pub. For those interesred there is also a large childrens play area & dog walkers also catered for. Front of house staff are very friendly, welcoming & helpful without being overbearing. Menu & drinks list was a laminate sheet which I assume is reduced due to current situation. My first drink choice wasn't available so had a Guiness served in the dreaded plastic glass which never seem same as proper one. I have to say the food was a diappointment. This was served in the type of plastic / poly containers you expext to see in local burger joints. The fries were also the same type of bulk packed thin sort you expect at same places. Fish finger sandwich was just about ok. Probably left slightly disappointed. Staff great, food not so. Will give this place another chance at some point probably when we have some sort of normality but untill then would be drink only for me. Visit was end of May just before bank holiday weekend.

On a nostalgia fest, as I came here as a toddler and youngster decades ago with my family. Very popular place. Food and Drink: I didn't eat in as only start serving at 12 and the bar staff couldn't tell me (or ask) what was vegetarian. I had a lovely hot Latte. Range of soft and alcoholic drinks and some snacks. Seating: Plenty of indoor and outdoor seating (some covered by the tent. Very friendly customers and dog friendly space. Atmosphere: Historic pub with lots of interesting items inside, slightly spoiled outside by in your face signage fixed to the wall. Play Area: Children's play area. Accessibility: Mixed, alternate routes. Getting There: Walking: From the various Meadows, both sides (Chorlton and Sale) of the River Mersey. Tram: Sale Water Park a reasonably short walk up the road. Bike: Bring your own or there us a hire shop close to the pub, or by Car. Car Parking: Riadside Pay and Display, Patrons register car inside for free parking.

The staff and location were 5/5. They had lots of outdoor seating which was lovely when the sun was out. However, the food was 2/5. They didn't have any salads available and the burgers we ordered was advertised to have a brioche bun but came with a regular flour bap bun. The grilled chicken in the burgers were completely unseasoned, overcooked and dry with no sauce (not even sauce on the bun) so they were a jaw workout to eat. It seems like they have stock issues because when we asked for ketchup for our chips they didn't have any. A restaurant without ketchup?! Finally, (and the worst part) was the coleslaw had a thick black hair buried inside it which I only discovered after already eating some of it (see the photo). Overall, I'd come back for the location and to have a drink in the sun but I wouldn't recommend eating here.
