We had a great time staying here for Tatton Park (which was a 20 min car journey away). The staff for the most welcoming and hospitable that I've come across in a long while, and it was lovely to get such a friendly welcome. The food in the pub was great quality and exceeded pur expectations, and we were served quickly and again with the same high level of hospitality. Tiny things to improve would be to be given a wine list and drinks menu at the time of seating, and the drinks menu being expanded a bit would be welcomed. The rooms were comfortable and spacious. Having an iron and ironing board was a great plus, and the tea making facilities were great (including a range of tea bags and Border's biscuits). There were Samsubg TVs in our rooms, that both worked well on freeview. The bathrooms were a good size. The shower power was great, probably better than my house, and again a tiny improvement that could have made our stay more comfortable was the shower curtain being replaced with a screen, so you had more space in the shower-over-bath. Toiletries weren't what we would use, but were a nice touch. Negatives (that we didn't complain or ask about because we hardly spent anytime in our rooms) were my bedside light didn't work, the light switches were slightly confusing, and the rooms were very hot. It was a warm weekend, but not particularly hot (you needed layers outside!), but the rooms were sweltering. Perhaps caused by hot water pipes running through them, as it just seemed odd and we weren't able to get any air round the rooms with the windows open. A couple of sockets in one room weren't UK plugs and we couldn't figure out what they were (not EU either), and that made charging my phone (alarm clock!) near the bed a bit tricky. Perhaps take an extension lead if it would bother you as well.
If visiting the area again, we wouldn't hesitate to stay here, or recommend...
Read moreA nice meal but felt a little rushed by one member of staff who asked me if I'd finished my meal when I took a few moments to savour it. This doesn't make for a relaxed experience especially as it's not an inexpensive meal. When You pay for an afternoon out You expect to be made at ease rather than be made to feel uncomfortable and rushed. And it wasn't as if the Pub was busy and there were more than enough staff. I was considering having a Family meal here, but this experience has made me rethink. Sadly I don't think I'll be having another meal here myself either...............
P.S a got a very terse reply from the General Manager today. It was a waiter not a waitress who approached me and I did speak to a lady on the bar who I assumed to be a Manager. She was a very polite member of staff who originally took my order and she had a different uniform to thr other staff. When I made the complaint to her though though I got no assurances, I was just told it would be fed back. I was served well by the 2 waitresses who brought my meal and Condiments. I was sat at a table outside, just outside the restaurant. I am not looking to achieve something by writing my review, I just want to make rhe point that when You pay for an expensive meal, You do not expect to be rushed. That is just basic good service to me and I wanted to...
