This is NOT and family friendly restaurant. I would suggest anyone who has additional needs stay well clear as the lack of understanding and empathy, especially in this day and age, is absolutely disgraceful.
Arrived without a booking and was offered a table. Explained that there would be 6 of us eating and the others were still to arrive. My 7year old son, with special needs had brought his own drink with him and agreed that he would eat and drink. When we sat we were told he could not have his drink as they serve beverages. Asked for the same drink which they do not serve and so asked for a glass for him to put his drink in. Again by another waiter was told no he can not have it. The manager then abruptly arrived and said you can not consume your own drinks. I explained 6 of us would be eating and drinking, he is a child and would save another drink after this. He again said no. I then had to spend 40 minutes talking to my special needs child, who at this point was crying and distraught, trying to convince him that we needed to stay for food as everyone else wanted to eat here. I, and my child was humiliated in from of a restaurant full of people. The rest of the table arrived and The manager again came back to the table stating, 'i know you think I am being unreasobalble' to which I stated yes while holding back the tears myself as I was so upset and angry. There was never any apology or attempt to understand our position. We were just simply told no. Even by the management of the...
Read moreBooked the restaurant part of the hotel for my sister in laws birthday as we had heard great reviews about the place to which we looked forward to. My father in law booked the restaurant well in advance due to being popular. On arrival we were greeted however when we said we had booked they had no recollection of our booking. We know things like that can happen and a fully accepting of mistakes but it was the way we were made to feel. The girl questioned my father in law multiple times about our booking trying to make it feel like it was our fault and made my father in law embarrassed as he was made to feel as he was lying and incompetent. We were seated in a back room and decided to get drinks but we didn’t have a drinks menu. My sister in laws partner went to the bar and the staff member laughed and sarcastically said no. My sister in laws parter proceeded to walk back to the table but didn’t realise the staff member at the bar followed him. The staff member rudely said what do you want and was so blunt. To say the least we got our drink bill and left to the lovely pub across the road where the staff welcomed us with warm arms. As much as we would’ve stayed they unfortunately lost our custom due to the rude service that made us feel uncomfortable...
Read moreNot good. Very disappointed - poor welcome on arrival, and things didn't really improve from there. Room was ok, but didn't really seem to warrant price tag of £140 for the night. Evening meal felt really rushed. We asked for some time to sit before ordering dessert, but within one minute a dessert board menu was presented and we were soon asked to order. Not relaxed at all. But the main problem was breakfast. If you say breakfast is between 8 and 10 am, you must expect people down towards the end of that time. Anywhere else, that means guests can sit down and order up till 10am. But, no, we arrived at 5 minutes to 10am, and were made to feel a nuisance. The cooked food is not made to order as stated on website (apart from kippers), so there were meager offerings in heated trays when we arrived. Worse, the staff and/or family were constantly milling around our table as we ate. Then to top it all, the hoover started up within 5 minutes not 4 feet from our table. If you want people to be finished BY 10am, for clearing and setting up for lunch service, then say so. Don't make guests feel rushed or unwelcome. Won't be coming back I'm afraid, and...
