FINE DINING EXPERIENCE ! Had a beautiful meal at the Prince of Kent for the first time after having a disappointing meal at another Indian restaurant. Let’s just say we were beyond pleased with our experience here definitely worth the 20 minute drive! We rang late notice but still managed to get a table for around 7:40 on a Saturday night. It was reasonably busy so I’d recommend booking. We were greeted and sat in a lovely spacious clean booth with fresh flowers. We were served by lovely waiters who went out of their way to make sure we had everything we needed whether that be drinks, napkins etc. Popadoms were lovely and crispy and arrived within 10 minutes, dips and salad fresh. Our mains came, me and my partner were pleasantly surprised. Portion sizes were amazing and we both admitted that it was best chicken in a curry we had ever had, honestly so juicy and tender. I had a Butter Chicken which was spot on and he had a Tikka Masala (both beautiful). Mushroom rice was extremely generous and Sag Paneer was spot on too. Naan bread was very nice - very light and fluffy so we both left feeling full but not bloated! The waiter who delivered our mains double checked everything with us to make sure we had everything we needed. Best meal out we had in a long while, everything was delightful, came piping hot and well presented! Thank you to your team for your service, you definitely have a loyal customer in us, our whole evening was perfect. We will bring our whole family next time as we know they’ll love it as much as we did. Would recommend to anyone as everyone went...
Read moreWe went to the Prince of Kent on a Saturday night to celebrate a birthday. The restaurant was quite busy when we arrived, with a fair few takeaway orders also being picked up. We were quickly shown to our table, which was very nice - indeed the whole restaurant is nicely decorated.
Things only went downhill from here. The drinks order took a good while to arrive, but little did we know the food would take just under an hour and a half to arrive. We were about to leave as it had taken so long, but Jay the owner reassured us the food was just about to come out. Our starters then arrived, but these were lukewarm. The mains were then brought out about ten minutes later, this time the food was hot, and it was very tasty, but certainly not worth the wait.
All other tables had a similar experience, as well as delays to the takeaway orders. Clearly the kitchen was overloaded on this busy evening, and it marred what should have otherwise been a lovely evening.
Probably best to go on a weekday to avoid the meltdown...
Read moreThe place was empty when we went, and for good reason. It is terrible since re-opening. We were given a grubby table (knives, forks, table cloths), constantly interrupted and watched by overly eager staff (whom wouldn't let half-full bottles sit on the table, and nearly spilt them when removing), and staff were not sure of the menu items (asking for a copy to read at the table before asking for orders). The waiter forgot which meals had been ordered (guessing names), and despite my semi-allergic illness to a certain ingredient, advised using a spoon to rearrange meals. I could continue to list the abundance of what went wrong, but I will leave this review with the remark that when asked "is everything alright?", we replied with issues, and were physically laughed at. It has been open for several weeks now, so this is definitely not a case of "staff training". This place is disastrous, and there are much better places to spend your money. Definitely not...
