This might just be the best pub in the UK.
I originally came to try Hawkstone Larger after watching Clarksons' Farm (found this pub on the Hawkstone website) and was pleasantly surprised to find my new favourite pub and restaurant!
The food is impeccable. Some of the most amazing pizzas you've ever had. This is the second time I've been and both times were flawless. My farther is particularly fussy and difficult to find food he likes, but even he admitted it's the best pizza he's ever had - high praise indeed! I personally travel around the world for work and can confirm the pizzas are better than most found in Italy!
The staff couldn't be friendlier, especially the (I assume) owner who ended up giving me a Hawkstone glass. All staff are excellent and go above and beyond to ensure comfort and an enjoyable experience.
I wish I lived closer. I don't think there would be an evening where you wouldn't find me here. This is a truly outstanding pub, exceeding expectations in every category.
I highly recommend booking, this pub is often packed so book to ensure a table.
Can't wait to come back, and wish every pub across the UK was like...
Read moreI met up with a couple of friends for Sunday roast at the Hopbine, last weekend. We had a terrific meal, in a very comfortable pub, served by friendly staff, and drank good beer to match.
I don’t often have roasts out, mainly because, as a family, we like to cook our own, and we like the way it’s done… but I’d definitely make more exceptions at the Hopbine. I ordered the porchetta, it was delicious; the fat was perfectly rendered (as it should), and the herb and seasoning on it was really well balanced, the crackling, moreish and crunchy. One of our group had the sirloin, and he heaped equally good praise on the quality of the meat, which is sourced at an Organic farm just outside Goudhurst, Paley Farm, I believe.
The sides of cauliflower with cheese, also extremely tasty, if not a little naughty, and the braised cabbage, perfectly charred, with a good sweetness, and touch of acid. Both, ideal accompaniments to the excellently cooked vegetables on the...
Read moreAs I climbed the hill on my trusty bike I was faced with the welcome sight of The Hopbine Inn. It was 17:45 and the humble pub began to buzz. As I entered I noticed there were reservations signs on most of the available dining tables. I took a look at the menu and asked the staff for recommendations. The restricted range focussed on pizza and burgers. “Fast food in a traditional pub?!” I went along with it and ordered Mac and cheese for starter followed by a florentine pizza for main. When the food promptly arrived I was pleasantly surprised. They were some of the best examples of these dishes I have eaten in my lifetime. Eating modern trendy, high quality fast food in Traditional pub surroundings felt like a breath of fresh air. As I finished the last slice of pizza the customers began to arrive in droves. Be sure to book a table before hand to avoid...
