The Woodcock Inn — Restaurant in Tunbridge Wells

Absolutely fantastic hidden gem of a pub. I phoned to book last minute and was offered a choice of times by a very friendly front of house girl who’s name I later discovered was Rachael. I explained we were taking my elderly mother and her 100 year old friend for Sunday lunch. We were greeted by Rachael who was most helpful ensuring the ladies were seated comfortably. The drinks, Long Blond ale for me and a lovely wine and local gin for the ladies were served promptly and were delicious. Then we come to the food. I ordered the mixed roast.. no less than 3 large slices EACH of pork, Turkey and beef! Beautiful roasties, veg, crackling stuffing and the biggest Yorkie I’ve ever see!! probably the best roast I’ve ever had. Rachael kindly explained that the children’s roast would satisfy our elderly ladies appetite and she was right.. I’ve seen smaller adult roasts! My sister had the standard roast Turkey and again was delighted with it After another drink we shared a sticky toffee pudding with custard and an ice cream. The bill came to just £107 and they kindly boxed up what we couldn’t eat.. only because of the sheer size of the roasts! The landlady also had a lovely chat and gave our 100 year old friend a lovely bunch of flowers which made her day! If I could give 11 out of 10 I would! My husband and I recently had the pleasure of having Lyndora, Lottie and the rest of the team catering our wedding and we honestly couldn’t have asked for more from them. From the very beginning, they went above and beyond in every meeting, every email, every bit of planning in the lead up was handled with such care, thought, and creativity. They took so much time to understand what Elliot and I wanted and even thought of details we never would have considered ourselves. From the very beginning, we felt completely confident that we were in the best hands.

On the day itself, they were just incredible. The set-up was beautiful and so thoughtfully done, the food was absolutely delicious, and so many of our guests have told us how much they loved it. The bar staff were fantastic too! Fun, professional, and serving up the most delicious cocktails. One of the touches that meant so much to us was that the team all wore bow ties to match the bridal party, it was such a thoughtful gesture that made us smile.

We can’t thank Lyndora, Lottie, and the whole team enough for everything they did before and during the wedding to make our day so special. If you’re looking for someone to cater your wedding or any event, we honestly couldn’t recommend them enough!

If I could give no stars I would have. Menu ok but not much choice. However when we came to pay the bill we realised by cross checking with the menu that we had been overcharged on 4 food items. We spoke to the manager who claimed it was a ‘glitch in the till’. When I asked how this could happen she said it must be a ‘glitch in the printer for the menus’, pointing at a huge pile of printed menus. She then came to our table and said she had applied a discount to the bill. The owner them came over - I expected her to apologies and maybe offer a round of drinks but no. She was so rude and aggressive. She squared up to me (yes really) and she’s quite scary looking. She wagged her finger in my face and shouted at us. We couldn’t believe it! All other diners were looking and some spoke to us outside about what happened and how rude she was. Her behaviour was completely unprofessional and we guessed she may have been drinking excessively.
