booked early for a Saturday "after work meal" empty when we arrived @6.30 - Ordered a drink and was immediately informed that "little" Daniel was performing on his organ to raise funds for a local charity and that raffle tickets where a £1...... hmmm
The meal was typical pub fair. My steak was ok if a little thin. Wife's duck was a bit sadder as it was supposed to be "Todays Special" and as soon as we had ordered it was wiped off!! Was it yesterdays special?? The "saute" potatoes accompanying the duck were just boiled in their skins and not sauteed much if at all..... the "berry" sauce inundated the duck and was not very nice at all.... For dessert we ordered trifle which was also a bit disappointing as the custard part was solid..... To pay the best part of £60 (incl. a G&T & beer) was in our opinion a bit steep in this day and age. After being consistent patrons of the Three Willows over 20 years plus we have become a little disillusioned with the new style of the new management and will not be coming again for a while..... ps the waitress forgot to bring a side order and had to be reminded (which has happened before...
Read moreJuly 2018 - Think the management has changed in this pub since our last visit as they’re a lot more friendly and welcoming than I remember.
The meal we had was nice and the price was reasonable. The roast is huge! Be prepared for it.
Great area for kids to play outside but it probably needs a little bit of maintenance and the garden could do with a tidy up. Wouldn’t stop us going again though.
May 2019 - The place has improved again, food is even better, service is as good as you could ask for and the prices are reasonable.
Been here a few times recently as the weather has been pretty good and one of those times they has a soft play area set up for kids. The garden has got a load of new kids play stuff and has been re-fenced with a nice substantial fence which means that kids are really safe as they can only get out through the patio area which is easy to keep an eye on.
Last time we took the family there the place was rammed and parking was up the road, they were actually turning people that wanted food away as they were so busy already. The sign of a good pub.
Glad this is my local. Keep up...

If you want to eat out and are in the area, why not try The Three Willows? It's a lovely little pub with a country feel - even though it's a stones throw from Stansted Airport. As soon as you enter, you are greeted by the landlord or another member of staff and treated like a regular. Grab a drink and peruse the menu or head straight for your table, it's up to you. Whenever we visit, we reserve a table as it can get very busy! If you do reserve a table, it will be waiting for you with a small chalk board with your name on it and the legend 'Reserved'. Very nice! The menu is not the biggest you will have seen, but it is packed with excellent meals, including vegetarian options. There is also a specials board with a few more tasty teasers! The food has always been fantastic for us and we always recommend it to others, so do yourself a favour and get over to The Three Willows - you...
