Food quality - 5* if you get it Revamp - 5* looks amazing Service - 1* needs improvement

Being my local, I couldn’t wait to see the revamp the pub underwent last year, it is a place we visit every week and it was much needed, in more ways then one!! After a few visits (including one lovely midweek lunch) we decided to come here for my husbands birthday meal last month, and wow it was like nothing had changed! We booked a table, arrived to check in to a 10 min wait as the staff were all new, (we get that) we spoke to a manager who wasn’t they were not working, yet they was ok serving the regulars so we had to wait!!! we then found out that no table had been reserved for us, fortunately there was empty tables. Once seated we found out other family’s had the same issues regarding booked tables!! We ordered our food for our sons to come out as a starter, then after an hour and a half we find out our meals have been lost! Yet others who arrived after us were being served theirs! This is not acceptable, and has put us off eating there again which is a shame as the foods great once you get it and as it’s our local we believe the pub to be a very important part of our community!

We will still visit for drinks, but that’s all untill these issues...

I used to come to the Midget regularly but haven't been since I moved out of Abingdon about 10 years ago. We came here after a family funeral (booked in advance) and unfortunately my expectations didn't meet reality. When we went to eat the food (that was already out when we arrived) we found that some of the food items were still frozen/really cold to the point that even the least picky of the group didn't want to eat them. When other items on the table had gone cold by the time the last of us started eating it makes me think that the items that were (very) cold by the time we ate must not have been fully defrosted by the time they were placed on that table?

I'm also pretty certain that some areas of the pub haven't had a refurb since the last time I was in there 10 years ago....

Massive THANK YOU for the whole Midget Abingdon Team for making our son's 18th b'day best day ever!! Fantastic hosting, 5hrs of managing teens testosterone with constant smile on the face - absolutely professional treatment ;) 11 happy boys, each and everyone was shouting how amazing its this place, how polite and nice ppl are working there and the entire atmosphere was just TOP🔝they said it was one of their best go out. They bombarded Midget team with massive food order for a start and the chef handled it all perfectly well! Food, drinks amazing. We did open bar with £XX limit and everything was just managed so well. Highly recommended 👏🍻👍The Midget Team- You saved our son's b'day party in this difficult time!...
