Called the Blueberry on Monday to try and pre-order some pizzas for Wednesday - was told to call on Wednesday, ok.
Called on Wednesday shortly after opening (12pm) to preorder 9 pizzas, 3 garlic breads, a cheeseburger and chips to be collected that same day at 7:15pm. The service on the phone wasn't amazing but it was fine - I also asked for just two of the pizzas to be Gluten Free and that their boxes be marked "GF".
Show up at 7:20, worried I'm a bit late. I tell someone I'm here to collected the big pizza order and I'm told it will be a 10 minute wait - not too bad. I have a group of 20 people waiting for me but 10 minutes isn't that bad.
7:30pm, no pizza. 7:45pm no pizza. 8:00pm no pizza 8:15pm pizza arrives 8:18pm I pay nearly full price for the whole order and leave.
There was no attempt from the staff to communicate with me about the waiting time, just me and a friend sat at a table talking for nearly a full hour. We talk about how we're missing out on the event that ends at 9pm and hope that everyone isn't missing this pizza too much.
There was no apology of even acknowledgement from the staff that we had been waiting nearly a whole hour to collect pizzas that I had pre-ordered several hours in advance (I would have given them two days notice if they let me!).
None of the boxes were marked GF so we had no idea which pizzas were Gluten Free - I called to ask about this and they told me "look at the pizza base, the gluten free pizza base has holes in it" - we could not identify which pizza base was Gluten Free.
To be honest I'm not even sure if our pizza had all it's ingredients on it as I ordered three of the "popeye" and didn't see any walnuts on there.
From what I could tell, they hadn't actually prepared ANY of my order prior to my arrival so I had to sit and wait for all the pizzas to be cooked from scratch. I can appreciate that this ensures that the pizzas are 'fresh' when I collect them but given the amount of notice they had there MUST have been a better way of doing things.
We had an event booked from 7-9pm nearby and in the end I only got to take part for about 15 minutes after everyone ate their pizza. Such a shame.
Update: I feel I should add that despite The Blueberry commenting on this review, they never contacted me regarding...
Read morePizza was amazing. Customer service is at the very bottom. Noisy. Dirty floor. Dogs in dining area We have been living in Blewbury for past 7 years ( have engaged village activities as well) and this was the very first time we went there for Thursday Big Pizzas. Wood oven pizzas were delicious. Crispy, cheesy and full of toppings. The cook was amazing too with very pleasant gesture. But the place wasn't very clean. There was no waiter to take up the orders. Waited 20min and realised you had to go to the bar to order. It was mentioned on the wall by the entrance. Then food was served and drinks weren't served, so had to ask twice as we were halfway of our meals and really needed our drinks, especially the kids. People arrived with dogs and dogs were going under our tables. We love pets but don't expect to see them in public restaurants when people are trying to have food. We booked the table in-advace because of kids but our table was right by the bar and next to the entrance. People were walking behind me and pushing me in as I was sitting because it was very narrow gap between the chairs and bar. Very noisy with people drinking after work. Not comfortable at all. Don't feel like a countryside pub.
** Well., We can see that owner has replied on the review. Seems like he hasn't taken it in very well. Can see that you don't want to understand your customers needs but to tell about your good/ regular customers. We were not there to save money or have your free fantas (don't insult your customers when responding to their feedback). Your deal was published on your website and we love wood- oven pizzas. You don't have to suggest the customers to when to come. We came on Thursday because we rarely get a day off together in midweek. There wasn't anyone to talk or request our needs. We tried to reach the bar couple of times but came back and sat down as poor girl was on her own, serving busy night. It's probably suit for drinkers but not for families as you clearly point about money you get. We are very familiar with most of pubs & restaurants around Didcot/ Oxford/ Wallingford and many more.Thank you for your response and we feel, that we have been let down for the second time after reading your...
Read moreThis review related to Chor Muang Thai at the Blueberry only! I cannot find any way to review the restaurant only.
Let's talk positives first. The food was mostly good. We had a satay to start - delicious. My wife had pad Thai - very good, she tells me. I had e-sarn chicken. This was tasty but was served on the bone. There was more bone then chicken on the plate. This was not mentioned on the menu. I wouldn't have ordered it otherwise. But it did taste nice.
The venue though. A small room built into the back of the pub. When we arrived my name was on a little card on the table. I thought that was cute. The room is small and right next to a pizza kitchen. One of the tables was literally beside a door to a beer garden outside. People walked through from there to the bar. Not ideal. There was no atmosphere in the room at all.
The service. Food was served quickly and one waitress was pleasant. The other seemed shy and perhaps untrained. No one asked us how our meal was our anything like that. When I mentioned my bony disappointment to the waitress at the end she brushed it off. The staff have nowhere to stand except blocking the route from this room to the bar. They looked very awkward and it made me feel awkward for them. I don't think they have had much or any training. I know it's a small town but that doesn't mean you don't aim for excellence!
Next time I would order something different and have take away. The venue offers little as an eating...
