Party of 4 booked Aagrah Wakefield early last Friday evening, on entering the premises we were left standing in the entrance even though 2 waiters were stood at the bar chatting. Eventually we were ushered to a table just outside the kitchen door which proved very noisy to say the least. No one bothered to ask if we had booked (which we had done 3 or 4 days prior, so what was the point in booking online?) and from then onward the attitude was blatantly to rush us through, take our money and as much as possible and get us out ! The waiter never smiled once and really gave the strong impression he was in a hurry and really didn't want to be there. Drinks from the bar were slow but not excessively, poppadoms arrived and were nice and crispy but there were some funny tastes in the pickle tray, Mango was very watery, not one solid piece in it and onion with something red in it was not to our liking, yoghurt was also very watery. Our mains arrived by a different waiter who was pleasant and responsive however the first waiter plus a colleague spent the next 15 minutes drying cutlery obviously from the dish washer in the kitchen and throwing it literally, into the drawers directly behind us. The noise was awful as you can imagine. The meal was really nothing special, Korma was bland and tasteless. Sp. Biryani was OK but sauce was more potatoes than sauce, cannot comment on our two guests meals. Peshwari nan was a complete disaster, burnt on the back and pineapple and pistachio nuts ??????? Not the Peshwari nan I have EVER had and will never have it again ! Sweet was prepacked ice as expected and OK. Trying to pay the bill was also a nightmare, three times the waiter tried the card terminal, three times it had to voided due to lack of signal, I had 4G on my phone and a strong signal. We were told that we had to go to the bar to pay the bill as though it was our fault their machine did not work which we did and left. Not a thank you or good bye as we left......nothing !! All in all not a pleasant experience and we will not be going back. Poor meal could be excused as personal taste but the attitude and poor service ...no !! Unfortunately this is what we remember and it will linger with us for a long time. In my opinion it appeared that everything had been watered down and cheapened which had a major effect on taste, certainly not the experience I had had on previous visits to Aagrah restaurants or any other Indian restaurant. Perhaps it was our fault for wanting to go out with our friends who were visiting this country and specially requested to go for an Indian meal on a Friday night at 8 pm, it...
Read moreCold food, missing items and no suggestions on how to resolve the problem! The food (most of it) arrived on time but with items missing and some stone cold I phoned to get this sorted as mistakes happen, people forget things and drivers are occasionally held up, that's life, I thought. However when I phoned to explain what had happened I was told that they would 'do me a deal next time I ordered'. I pointed out that I would prefer to eat what I ordered tonight, rather than save a few quid next month and eat cold food tonight. The response was silence, until I asked what they were going to do, again. I was told again that "next time you order....." I asked if they just wanted me to microwave it if it was too much trouble to send out hot food and was told "if you want", then silence. Finally I suggested, as this was going nowhere, I drive to the restaurant, return the food, and collect a fresh order, if another delivery was just too much to ask. This was greeting with an enthusiastic "yes, that would be great". So I did. When I collected it I stood in a freezing cold restaurant where the chef was wearing a coat and bobble hat, somewhat explaining why it doesn't take too long for the food to go cold. When my order was brought out I thought that was it, but oh no, on checking this order some of the same items were missing again. Once I had shown the order confirmation from JustEat the chef when back in to the kitchen and prepared the rest of the order. I returned home and had a mix of hot and warm food and was charged full price for the priviledge. On the plus side, the food itself, when hot, is fantastic from Aagrah and I hope they sort out this debarcle with JustEat...
Read morei was genuinely looking forward to this meal- but honestly it’s probably the worst curry i’ve had (and trust me i’ve had a lot) Me, my mum and my dad came this evening to celebrate the 45th anniversary with high expectations- ordered a pickle tray, a main each and a drink each with naans/rice, and even with 45% off, the bill still came to £44 which is SHOCKING. My Peshwari naan had no coconut at all and was absolutely drowning in raisins so i couldn’t eat it (peshwari is one of my favourite things) and at every other indian i have been to in wakefield and outside the peshwari naans have never had raisins on and have never been so thin and crispy. The curry tasted like a literal morrisons savers microwave meal and i tried not to mention it at first but when my mum mentioned it i realised i wasn’t being overdramatic- i usually never complain for food ever but this place isn’t worth the money (whatsoever) and the food is quite vile it’s genuinely put me off indian food for a good month. The staff were lovely of course but they seriously need to sort the food out lol it’s just so disappointing when you have had it booked for weeks and you are let down and robbed...
