Gaf's — Restaurant in Wakefield

WHY ISNT THIS PLACE PACKED 24/7??? Ordered a meal for myself and my husband this evening for collection and we were absolutely blown away with the quality of the food!!! We had the meal deal for two which was a steal at £24. First impressions on opening the box was outstanding. Such care was obviously taken when packaging the meals. Perfectly cooked chicken pakoras and a succulent, juicy mixed starter were stunning to say the least. A sublime chicken tikka masala and chicken jalfrezi followed, consisting of perfectly tender chunks of chicken breast amongst expertly seasoned sauces. Jalfrezi could have done with a touch more salt and my husband felt the masala sauce was a little on the hot side for him, but these are all personal preferences. Chipatis... Soft ... Tender... Melted in the mouth. Pilau rice... Expertly cooked with a slight hint of spice. Mixed pickle tray was heavenly and complimented the meal perfectly. Would definitely recommend and will not go anywhere else for my Indian fix from now on. Atmosphere rated at a 4 as it was a takeaway order and we didn't sit in the restaurant, although the decor and attentiveness of the team was excellent. 10/10 Leigh and Simon...

Very sceptical about a visit to Gafs not being a lover of Indian food. When I say not a lover I mean I'm not a spice lover and very unfamiliar with Indian cuisine as a result of it. How surprised I was...the food is cooked to your liking and if you explain to the staff they are very helpful and talk you through the entire menu if need be. I had a starter I had never heard of before and it was beautiful. The main course I needed help with and didn't really want to order my usual chicken korma. The staff were great I put my faith in them and was served a whole host of mouth watering food. From pickle tray to dessert I can honestly say Gafs is now a firm favourite on my place to eat list. Very clean..nothing is too much trouble..not hurried. The staff are great. There's no great ceremony and you take your own drinks. Always a great night at Gaf's, a real local gem and one that needs to be supported as on occasion its not as busy as it should be. The staff are great and nothing is ever too much trouble, always friendly and engaging, making sure you enjoy your night. Visit a couple times through the year and the occasional takeaway but the best is our yearly lads Christmas/Baz's birthday night out, a rowdy group but the staff get involved and always join in the fun.
