This place has a rating of 3.3 at time of writing. But it is better than that. My experience didn't start well , standing waiting to enter for a long time at the entrance. The place was half full so I'm not sure what the problem was. It improved after that though. Service was cheerful and chatty. I did think on sitting down that it was quite dark. Not in a dark humour style of waiter. Just dark. The lacking light kind. A minor point though. The food came quickly and all of high quality. This is what well made British Food looks like. ( Sorry to any Welsh upset by that. ) The Prawn cocktail was freshly made with lovely fresh salad. The Prawns were good in number and in size. The Marie sauce was lovely. My Beef and Doom Bar Ale pie looked like a vestige from a bygone age. More like a castle actually. But it was really tasty. No gristle. The mash was lovely and smooth and the green greens ample. This came with lovely gravy and when I asked for more it arrived quickly . I ordered Garlic bread ( shouldn't have ,too much food ). A bit irregularly browned . So give them a try. They are better than the overall rating. My top tip ? Don't make paying customers wait so long. You have no idea how tempting it was to run off with the laptop that was stood there staring my frustration in the eye.

The Ashbridge Inn Cwmbran offers an exceptional unlimited breakfast. For just £10.99, you can indulge in an all-you-can-eat cooked breakfast featuring freshly-prepared items like bacon, sausages, hash browns, and eggs. The staff at the Ashbridge Inn are consistently praised for their friendliness and attentiveness. One guest noted, "We often come here for breakfast where the children eat for free. Excellent value for money and the staff are very friendly." Such testimonials highlight the team's dedication to creating a welcoming atmosphere for all patrons. The establishment itself is well-maintained, offering a comfortable and inviting environment for diners. Whether you're a local or a visitor to Cwmbran,

Visited the Ashbridge Inn on a Friday morning for a bite to eat. Was greeted by a friendly lady who sat us down right away and took out drink orders. We ordered food and it arrived really quickly and was piping hot. Food tasted lovely, I had opted for a burger, unfortunately they were out of coleslaw so they offered alternatives, I picked onion rings. Food was great, service was good, prices were very reasonable and there was a lovely atmosphere there. Well worth a visit if you're local or are willing to drive. Plenty of car park spacing outside Infront of the property which is free, would highly recommend 👍🏼

What has normally been a pretty good place took a bit of a downturn tonight.

Popped in for a meal with my partner tonight, and she wound up eating alone as my simple request of "no tomato on the burger please" fell on deaf ears. Simple mistake, but here's the kicker: the burger came with no piece of tomato in there, but the lettuce and burger were covered in the juices and seeds from the inside of the tomato (the parts I'm allergic to). So, not only had they not followed my request, THEY REMOVED THE TOMATO to cover up their mistake. Had I not opened the burger up (as I now ritualistically do, thanks to another chain owned by Whitbread) I would have been unaware, and ate the burger. Doing so could have resulted in myself being in hospital before the end of the night. This would have been made even worse by the fact that tomorrow morning I am taking my family away for a holiday - something which would have been hard to do from a hospital bed.

So, the justification for the one star? The blatant disrespect for my request and allergy, and the manner (or lack of) in which it was dealt with, considering how serious the outcome could have been.

Edit - 25/9/17: received quite harsh response by the "general manager" on TripAdvisor, who clearly failed to read down my page to see my previous glowing review. Apparently, "no tomatoes please" is not enough to their kitchen staff, and NOT ONE apology for them placing the tomato in the burger and then removing it to cover their tracks. Starting to wish I could give no stars. I'm never going back here again, and unless anyone with an allergy has the time to spell it out, or do little drawings for them, then I would advise not to go there.

Edit - 9/10/17: Insult to injury - just as well I intend avoiding going back here. Just had my "Tasty Rewards" statement via email, 0 points. Guess they decided having to replace my food because of their error was good enough reason not to...

We came to this pub for a long weekend. We weren't impressed on the first night we arrived. There was no information about what to do and whether we went to the bar and order or or it was a table service pub. We were escorted to our table and thats when we found out it was table service.

The table service was slow, you could see that the staff were working flat out though. Our drinks arrived eventually and then we had to flag down a waiter to take our meal order, as everybody was busy.

So after a while our meal arrived which turned out to be not what my partner ordered, so it had to go back, the waitress then tried to take my meal away but I didn't let her as I was nervous I wouldn't get it back ! and I'm a diabetic and had just had my insulin as soon as the food arrived. I felt sorry for my other half who then had to watch me eat mine.

The food for my partner arrived pretty quickly though, and thats why I gave them a 4 star. The food was nothing special and some of it was a bit cold. But my partner had theirs and said it was nice. We won't be coming back though after this weekend, the staff weren't really friendly either, they were too rushed off their feet to care.

We came back on Saturday night as and there was a totally different atmosphere. Everybody serving us were friendly and looked after us very well. The food was great and very hot a big difference to Friday night. But they are short staffed and this has got to be taken into account, if...

Staff very rude on arrival we were told we could only sit in the bar because restaurant was fully booked,we were then rammed on to a small table which caused upset as my father is In a wheelchair. The food we ordered ,we had to change as they didn't have what we wanted, the food was basic and not worth the money. After we had all most finished our food a couple came In with a child and were given a table in the restaurant, even though they had not booked, while we were crammed together by the bar and the restaurant was empty the whole time we were there which thay good have used some of the tables Then they had the the cheek to try to overcharge us for mushrooms, which were hard and burnt. Totally disgusted with the place will never go back as the portions were only enough to feed a small child, and their attitude was very unprofessional

what got my bk up was we had my father who is in a weel chair and we needed a bigger table and easier access to the exit for him and my mother who is not the best on her feet ither this was discussing how thay could give a table to a family of 3 two adults and one child under 10 a big table and for of us rammed on a small table wich was not the best so tell me how a child gets priority over a desabled person in a week chair im not having a go about the family but this is how the staff treated a...
