A Premier Destination for Motor Enthusiasts and Food Lovers
Located in the scenic surroundings of Pontypool, Baffle Haus has rapidly established itself as a premier hub for motor enthusiasts and food lovers alike. Co-owned by former Welsh rugby star George North, this café and community space seamlessly blends a passion for motorsports with a commitment to quality cuisine and a welcoming atmosphere.
Atmosphere & Ambiance
From the moment you arrive, Baffle Haus exudes a unique charm that appeals to both bikers and non-bikers. The interior is meticulously decorated with motorsport memorabilia, creating a retro yet contemporary vibe. Large glass fronts allow natural light to flood the space, highlighting the eclectic mix of vintage motorcycles and classic cars on display. The outdoor seating area is equally inviting, with ample picnic tables where patrons can relax and enjoy the picturesque views of Monmouthshire.
Food & Drink
Baffle Haus takes pride in offering a diverse and appetizing menu that caters to various tastes. The “Baffle Brekky Box” is a standout, featuring two pork and leek sausages, bacon, egg, hash browns, mushrooms, baked beans, and plum tomatoes—a hearty meal to kickstart your day. For those seeking lighter options, the halloumi sandwich, served in a fluffy challah bun with tomato chutney, is both flavorful and satisfying. Complementing the food is a selection of expertly crafted coffees and an array of homemade cakes and tray-bakes, including the popular jammy dodger blondie and coconut flapjack.
Community & Inclusivity
While Baffle Haus celebrates its motor enthusiast roots, it warmly welcomes everyone. The café has become a vibrant gathering spot, attracting a diverse mix of patrons—from bikers and car aficionados to families and professionals. The spacious car park accommodates both two-wheel and four-wheel visitors, ensuring convenience for all. The staff are friendly and attentive, contributing to the inclusive and lively atmosphere that makes every visit memorable.
Recognition & Innovation
Baffle Haus’s commitment to excellence has not gone unnoticed. In 2023, it was honored as one of the most innovative coffee shops in the UK, securing third place in the inaugural Grounds of Innovation Awards by BRITA Professional. Read moreThe Baffle Haus is my local (local in the loosest sense of the word) goto place when I'm at a loss for where to go or what to do. Depending from which direction you travel it's a scenic and entertaining ride, and a very welcoming place to stop for a coffee and a bite to eat. The food is reasonably priced and extremely good quality, the Haus Burger is a welcome treat and more recently I've been enjoying the goats cheese salad. The coffee is also good, and there is usually a decent selection of cakes and sweet treats. It can get very busy, especially when the sun shines and/or on a bank holiday weekend. I've never been turned away, though, but it's useful to know that it can get quite rammed with visitors if you're just looking for a quiet place to hang out. I'm normally on my own but everyone who works there or visits has always been pleasant and helpful - the place seems to have its own vibe and it's definitely a positive one. I've been visiting quite frequently since shortly after it opened and it's been good to see how it's grown and how much of a success it has become. Some people have accused it of having a certain snobbishness or exclusivity about it, but I can't say I'd ever noticed that. It's certainly sets a new benchmark for biker haunts, though. After visiting the Baffle Haus all other rest stops and cafes seem quite lame by comparison. Even the esteemed Loomies Moto Cafe in Hampshire can't hold a...

Although I was alone on this occasion I didnt feel like 'Billy no mates' (😂) as the staff and customers were really really friendly creating a great atmosphere. This was very evident whilst I was eating as prople were smiling and really enjoying themselves. Talking of eating the food was really good. I had the Baffle burger and smokey fries. The food was of a good quality, privided quickly and when it was ready the little device they gave me flashed and buzzed and I collected my food from the hatch. On this first visit I would rate my food at 4 and a half out of 5 BUT as the whole meal including a drink only cost me £13 it represented real good value for money compered to some other establishments so ive given thrm 5 stars. Special mention to the lovely young lady on thr counter who helped me choose my food. She was lovely and an asset to the company. Im just gutted as I forgot her name! The toilets were really clean. Well done for that. It says a lot about the venue when the loo's are clean and tidy I will definately be visiting the Baffle Haus again to try more of the menu. Highly...
