I love Caban, where it is situated and usually the food and espiecially the coffee... However my experience yesterday was anything but good, we ordered large cappuccino, single shot. The middle aged waitress double checked with us asking lge as in big cup...We were served original size, we decided not to make a fuss and the bill was charging for original. On stirring my coffee it was half filled with froth half a cup of coffee with milk and on tasting it was bitter! I asked the lady who served us if I could have more milk as my cup was only half full and the coffee was bitter. I was completely taken aback by her lack of customer service skills and her rudeness. She immediately went into defence mode by attacking me! Telling me that that is how it should taste and 1/3 of coffee, milk and froth, I pointed out actually my cup is only half full of coffee and half full of froth! Still no apology or offer of milk other than a patronising you should have had a latte and telling me the difference between coffee....I explained I know the difference I drink coffee! Well I don't know where you drink your coffee from ...but this is how we do it! was her answer.... when I told her "actually here"... she didn't know what to say.....still no apology but I did get milk! When I go out to eat and invest in your business I expect to be well received by waiting on staff and treated with respect.. I am respectfull and easy going...Excellent customer service skills are essential for businesses we don't just come for food and drink, for me and many others it's the whole experience! This lady served us on our previous visit and was having a rant about just being told there was no hot food... we thought she was having a bad day and let it pass..Now not so sure. Such a shame will think twice...
Read moreA lot to like about the place; the large windows and hanging bird feeders mean you get a lovely view, and the kids love seeing the birds and squirrels. The food is a bit hit and miss.. there's some nice things on the special board daily (curry is usually nice) but the main menu is quite boring. A friend had a mushroom baguette there last time and there was more bread than mushroom.. she had to ask for more mushrooms. i had the hummus sandwich. Hummus was home made and green; tasted very strange. Had a lovely tea and a very yummy cake afterwards though.
Went back this week for breakfast with a friend; they refused to make my 2yr old scrambled egg on toast, stating they only fry or poach eggs. So ordered porridge instead. Was told 5mins later there was no porridge so I asked again about scrambled egg as its much easier to make than poach and its the only thing my toddler loves at the moment! They reluctantly made it after informing me it was a one-off. I honestly was made to feel like i was asking them to make me a gourmet custom order. I think I'll go somewhere more...
Read moreLooking on google for a good reviewed food place to go. This was a bit out of our way, but saw it had good reviews and we decided to visit. Due to the internet connection we didn't see the menu or photos. We decided to go here as there was nothing else around. We've got seated at their outdoor space and what a great space, wonderful nature. Wooded area, birds tweeting. Social distancing during covid was in place. All the staff wore masks. Little huts where you could sit. Brilliantly done. When we saw the menu we nearly didn't order anything as it wasn't our kind of food and there wasn't a lot of choice, but as we traveled a long way and were quite hungry, we decided to go ahead anyway and just give it a try. Wow, we're so glad we did. The flavours were amazing. Such a surprise and well worth the visit. It was nice to have something different as well, something we would have never chosen if there were other things on the menu. Cappuccino was great as well. Staff was very friendly. We can highly...
