PLEASE DONT EAT HERE. As a Cymraes, I'm appalled to think that this cafe will be some visitors enduring impression of Wales. The staff stood scowling at us as we ordered our New Year's Day lunch - they couldn't muster a single smile between the three of them and didn't try to hide their irritation at being there. We were due to meet friends so decided to persevere despite the unfriendly staff and gloomy surroundings. On complaining that our table was filthy, a member of staff made a half hearted attempt to clean it, saying 'these tables are just always sticky' and spraying my children (aged 3 and 5) and husband with kitchen spray in the process without a word of apology. She was very young and it seemed like a genuine error but unpleasant nevertheless. £30 for a very basic lunch I can live with (two sandwiches, two jacket potatoes, no drinks), but the jacket potatoes in our order were clearly cooked in a microwave and were rock hard. The 'brecon beans' with my order were just baked beans in barbecue sauce and pretty horrible. When I complained about our experience to the most senior in appearance of the staff, a woman eating pom bears behind the counter, she offered no apology but rolled her eyes and shouted 'Emma!' behind her. After taking my young daughter to the bathroom, I was accosted by the manager who aggressively suggested I had complained and then 'run off', suggesting I should have 'spoken to her' rather than the 'girls at the till' (the woman I'd spoken to was clearly 40+) and who insisted there was nothing wrong with the food, although she did apologise for the service. No refunds offered. A thoroughly unpleasant experience from start to finish. Highly recommend you eat the Garwnant Visitor Centre instead, food, ambience and service wonderful and a much better impression of this beautiful...
Read moreA pleasant little café in a wonderful location, the perfect place to stop after a long, mountain centre walk. We often call in for tea & cake when walking that way, as there's always a good selection, including vegan & gluten free. The staff are friendly & the café always clean & tidy. The views speak for themselves, nowhere better on a lovely clear day, especially if you manage to nab one of the outdoor tables. There is also a large play park to keep children of all ages entertained & a craft centre above the café. So, if you are in the Brecon area, then the Mountain Centre & Caffi y Fan are definitely...
Read moreThe views here are astounding just a shame the food is vile despite the premium price. Never have I known a jacket potato with tuna to be so horrid. I sent it back politely only to have two female staff members come out arguing the toss about their prepackaged bestseller 🤮 .. it was a shame as they do this lovely place a disservice. I have never entered an argument about tuna mayo before in my life and had several other customers come up and comment on how bizarre/shockingly rude the service was and how the food there had gone dreadfully downhill....
