My parents and stopped here momentarily before going on our bike ride around the lake, the food was lovely but the service of the food was incredibly slow, I understand with it being the bank holiday weekend it can be a busier time, but for three hot drinks and two cakes it seemed to take longer then expected.
We came back after our bike riding hoping to just get three sandwiches to take away with us but seemed to take a while for those to be brought out to us. None of the servers came up to ask if we were waiting on food or inform us about the delay. Unhygienic doesnât seem to be the word to use when the coffee machine doesnât seemed to be cleaned after each use to make the milk, and servers didnât seem to wash hands prior to handling food especially after theyâve handle money. Serves didnât off informative options for items that werenât on the menu, for example the fillings of the sandwichâs.
Apart from this, the food was lovely and location was great with lovely views of the lake and the old...
Read moreDuring our travels through Wales, we stumbled upon what can only be described as a breakfast paradise. This cafĂ© isn't just a place to eatâit's an experience. With a stunning view of the lake that instantly puts you at ease, itâs the perfect spot to start your day.
The food? Outstanding. Whether you're going for the hearty full English, a fresh wrap, or a perfectly cooked omelette, every dish is packed with flavor and clearly made with care. The coffee deserves its own shoutoutâthis isnât your run-of-the-mill cup. Itâs proper, rich, roasted coffee that coffee lovers will genuinely appreciate.
But what truly sets this place apart is the staff. Warm, welcoming, and full of local charm, they were hands down the friendliest people we met on our entire trip through Wales. Their kindness and attentiveness made the whole experience even more memorable.
If you're anywhere near this cafĂ©, donât miss it. Itâs the kind of place youâll wish you could take...
Read moreIt is difficult to give a star rating for this as the cafe and its staff are good and worth 5 stars. However, the lake ride pulls this rating down. Do check the cafe opening days. The ride is through some fantastic scenery but a few things spoilt it for us: there are LOTS of gates, necessary to keep livestock in, but very challenging when trying to get bikes through. The steep ascent and descent paths have been resurfaced with loose rocks making it hard not to spin out or fall off unless you have a good mountain bike and some skill - we managed, just! Much of the route is on single track tarmac shared with cars and there is a section on pavement directly adjacent to the national speed limit A470. Finally the "footpath" to the south of the cafe was so overgrown with brambles and nettles that scratches are unavoidable. Next time we will just hike to the high point for the views and then pig out...
