As an invited guest i arrived to an event there to be met with the manageress bluntly requesting fees from guests +the host.who was very rude to guests arriving and the baby reveal party host.! The guests had to clear used plates of tables reserved for the event+despite requesting that staff wipe the tables to clear crumbs and remnants of food from previous customers from the tables so we could lay out table decorations and have clean tables for our use, the staff didn't. This left guests to clear crumbs+food from table tops and chairs themselves before they could be seated!!
There wasn't enough seating for guests and guests were left to sort this out themselves as the owner+staff were uninterested. . This was despite as the owner identified that she wouldn't have agreed the booking for 11guests if she had known all 15 guests that she had taken deposits for would not attend.! And that all deposits would not be returned but all guests that did attend were crammed into a small space in a corner without enough seating or space!!!
This was booked as a celbration event of a landmark occassion in the hosts life but the rude money orientated unwelcoming statements that guests were met with on tbeir arrival from the owner/manageress were embarrassing and the way the host of the event was spoken to by the manageress/owner was extremley humiliating.
This left all attending guests feeling awkward. If it was not for the effort of the hosts family members, and the company and friemdship of those attending, the event would have been a disaster and totally spoiled because of the cramped inadequate dirty condition of venue, the quality of service, and the appaling attitude of the manageress/owner that attendees were met with on arrival!
The afternoon tea which we paid £16.50 each for was extremely overpriced for what it consisted of. It should have included two hot drinks per afternoon tea, but these did not emerge.guests had to pay extra for their own drinks. drink service was appaling.we all had to wait for hot drinks and repeatedly request them because taking orders for beverages was beyond the capability of the coffee shop staff! If you want to visit this coffee shop for a quick cuppa and slice of cake and you don't mind paying overpriced charges to sit on a sofa or at broken unstable tables then good luck. However if you want a cosy welcoming venue to hold an afternoon event or celebration on, then don't book no.600 . You will easily find other places who can provide a better service, venue and afternoon tea menu to a better standard and price, who will be appreciative of your custom and appropriately make you and all your guests feel welcome. This coffee shop does not. Advise ---avoid this coffee shop. It is a jumped up cosy-cafe pretending to be something grander! And with over-inflated prices thst reflect its granderous ideas Its worth looking elsewhere in the local village or neighbouring villages, if you want a nice venue for an event served by staff that don't need lessons in good manners and customer service. Only given it one star, because you can't give it no stars when submitting...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI was very disappointed with my visit to No 600 today. I have been a fan of food by Sean since the beginning when they started deliveries through lockdown. I have also visited other restaurants that they have/had but never been to No 600. I was really looking forward to it. The food was mediocre and not what was advertised on the afternoon tea menu. Plain ham sandwiches, plain tuna sandwiches, cheese and pickle and egg. The sweet selection was nothing like as advertised either. A scone with jam and cream, a meringue with mango, shortbread biscuits and a very hard choux pastry. The scotch eggs which are usually amazing were pink and raw with a sloppy undercooked meat texture. Not very inspiring in comparison to the food I would normally have received from this company. But above that, the service left a lot to be desired. We waited over 45 minutes for our afternoon tea to arrive. As the food was coming out, a member of the party asked for more tea. She was told in a very abrupt manner that she needs to get the food out first and you only get one tea with the afternoon tea. This isnāt the usual way an afternoon tea is but fair enough. However, myself and a few other members of the party had not even been offered a drink to start with. After waiting so long, people were thirsty and probably wouldnāt have minded paying. We never did receive our drink that is included in the Ā£21.50pp price. We were then charged Ā£15 per childās afternoon tea which on the menu clearly stated it was Ā£5 with a full paying adult. We were also told this when paying. This left a member of the party having to pay the remaining balance which is incredibly unfair. We were told that a receipt couldnāt be printed to find where the discrepancy was as we were all paying individually. As far as we were aware, we had all paid what we owed. One member was also undercharged, which has left them feeling really embarrassed. I heard what she told the server she had and the server calculated wrong and missed out a childās meal. I dare not complain about anything, as the way we were spoken to left us feeling on edge and it just wasnāt worth the confrontation. It was only one member of staff that was rude and unwelcoming. The others were very nice. But after todayās visit, I wouldnāt recommend. Food and service is what eating out is all about and this visit today was far from what it...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreBeen waiting and wanting to go here for ages but I was so disappointed, my friend booked a week before and when we arrived and told them we booked a table the woman looked at me like I had two heads, we were told to look around the gift shop whilst they found us a seat. We waited 20 mins in a cramped, over expensive, over stocked, tiny room, just felt in the way and awkward! Then we were sat on tiny chairs. I felt like Alice in wonderland when she went into the small room again over stocked with gifts absolutely everywhere. So much to see you canāt see anything! Then we were asked if we would like a bigger seat and table so we jumped at the chance. Again we waited and waited until our afternoon tea arrived approximately 45 mins after we got there! It was a Christmas tray (which we were not told about) Iām not keen on turkey and my friend hates anything mince piey. First layer a bit tasteless, second layer turkey roll (nice if you like turkey) the last layer the one we have been waiting for was terrible my friend and I have a terrible sweet tooth but we ended up leaving a lot of the cakes just tasteless and weird textures. My hot chocolate was cold, my coffee was tiny! Staff chatty and friendly. Toilets outside and down some stairs. So trouble if your disabled I guess. So disappointed. Donāt know how much it cost my friend wouldnāt tell me but Iām guessing...
