Fouzi’s Cafe Bar Pizzeria (Rossett) — Restaurant in Wales

Hate to share such a disappointing review when the food and setting is so lovely, but we sadly had a bad recent experience here. My sister had booked the private dining room six months ago for her 30th birthday - we’d pre ordered, paid a deposit and my sister even went in the week of the event to check if she could come to the booking earlier and decorate. All seemed fine. When she arrived on the evening, she was left so disappointed when we’d arrived and they said the table wasn’t available because they’d somehow double booked it. On a busy night with 10 of us waiting, they managed to make shift us a table outside leaving my sister to rush decorating while everyone arrived. What made this even more disappointing was not once after we’d all sat down did the manager offer a proper apology. He left his waiting staff (who were very good I should add - especially two of the girls!) to manage the table, then when the evening got cold (and the restaurant had cleared out) they finally managed to move us inside and deliver a bottle of Prosecco, still pretending like nothing had happened. At the end of the night, I spoke to the waiter when he’d delivered the bill (and had somehow managed to forget to take off the deposit as well!) to see if any sort of discount could be arranged and it felt like a horrible haggle which by that point, none of us had energy for. Dined last night for my MIL’s birthday. The restaurant and staff were lovely, however when ordering water for the table there was pieces of black floating in the water. We ordered replacement water which also had black floating in it. This was a concern as it either came from the tap or the ice machine, unclean ice machines can carry all sorts of germs and make people very sick. After the second jug the waiter very kindly offered us bottled water instead. The food itself was extremely bland and my husbands risotto had a pool of water in the bottom, unfortunately no one did a check back on our table and we were seated in the corner so it was difficult to call someone over, we were unable to raise the issue to get a replacement meal until the end of the meal, so my husband went without. I was very hungry so ate my bland linguine anyway. I have heard good things about the food here so I can only assume we came on a day when it was a different chef working. I have worked in several restaurants myself so was feeling very uncomfortable having to complain several times over several issues which caused the experience to be quite unpleasant. The food was impeccable, I cannot fault it. Delicious! They catered to my father's allergies with no issues and the food arrived remarkably fast after ordering. The front of house staff, however, were piss poor. Our first interactions were with the two most authoritative looking members of staff, and both had the most foul of attitudes, and interacting with other staff in paying and leaving, all attitudes seemed rough across the board. Despite this, I want to highlight our waitress, Mia, she seemed to be the only member of staff actually serving the entire restaurant while other staff stood around chatting both inside and out. Despite this, and being rushed off her feet, she kept a positive attitude and was outstanding. She was very polite with a sunny deposition, and she really didn't have a moment to spare.
