Like the Queen recently stated "Recollections may vary". The last reviewer has failed to mention that all of his group entered the pub not wearing any form of face covering. They were told politely to put face masks on (the law in Wales at the time of their visit), at which point they informed the staff that the pub should provide masks if we wanted people to wear them. Even after the 7th August lifting of restrictions face coverings are still mandatory in most sectors in Wales.

All drinks that are served for outdoor consumption are served in reusable Polycarbonate (hard plastic) glasses, NOT cups. When asked if ice and lemon was wanted for the Gin, no reply was given, hence no ice.

It is against the law for anyone under 18 to be served or carry alcohol from the bar at any licensed premises. The child of under 11 was stopped from carry the aforementioned Gin and Tonic from the bar. Explanation was given to this gentleman, and the child was then given a soft drink to carry.

Visitors are very welcome to the pub, the area and Wales. However, asking people to follow a few simple laws does sometimes seem to cause offense and...

Lovely traditional pub. Limited range of beers on draught, but the Tribute I had was well kept and really hit the spot. Friendly, attentive service from the family who run the place. Spotless and well cared for. No obvious signs of having been "modernised" recently, but why change a winning formula?

Tasty home cooked food from a range of classic pub options - everything with chips or jacket (choose chips, they were really good!) and salad or peas. The menu was varied enough to please everyone (steak, gammon, stew, lasagne, curry) but short enough to believe that it isn't just all frozen and microwaved.

Lots of space outside plus a children's play area. We didn't explore this, but would be welcome in better weather!

Plenty of parking in car park opposite, or in easy walking distance from the campsite at Dan-yr-Ogof - just cross over the road and head down...

What a lovely pub!! Food was delicious and proper chunky home made chips 👌🏻 more than enough for us and our 3 children, we all had dessert and struggled to finish them! sticky toffee pudding is to die for!! Has got a little play area around the side! we ordered our meals and was told we could take the children out to play while we wait for our food and the staff would call us when it was ready, we didn’t have to wait long at all! Highly recommend!

As for the review below what a load of bull!! we to had a small child with us and he was allso given a tea spoon TO EAT his dinner with NOT to bang against the table! So quiet understandable why this was taken away! As for portions being small is just laughable! Prices also reasonable to!

Lovely family friendly pub, lovely food, lovely staff! IGNORE...

£15 for standard Sausage egg n' chips? The prices here are ridiculous, basically because the pub is guaranteed tourists hiking the local trails and leaving Dan Yr ogof caves, so they really don't have to try hard to be competitive. But still, the menu is extremely pedestrian, just slightly above school dinners. The pub is lovely and cosy, with a *half* decent playground for kids. With a little effort and investment, this place might actually be good, but I recommend giving it a wide berth to be honest. 4 of the most bog-standard meals, no drinks or desert =£56 Nope.

We had just visited the Showcaves and were really hungry. We had a large group of family and friends with kids so I called up ahead to see if they could cater for us all. To our relief they could. There's a small free car park opposite side of the road. The food was delicious. Home cooked meals is what you need after a whole off camping and exploring. Really friendly staff who are very accommodating. The kind owner even recommended that we go see one of Wales highest waterfall, Henrhyd Waterfall. Thank you for that. It was well worth the visit.

The pub is ideal if visiting the Dan Yr Ogof caves (National Showcase Centre) caves, it is about a minutes drive as you leave and turn left then the Gwyn Arms is on your right. They are so friendly and welcoming and great for families, they have a kids menu too! The food was really tasty, hot and not too long to wait. The homemade thick chips were super and the sticky toffee pudding was amazing! The pub is clean and very homely! We certainly recommend them and would return if ever back in Wales. They also advised on other key attractions.
