Maahis — Restaurant in Wales

In the interest of a balanced review I am going to mention two positives, the food is very tastey and because of the poor experience the manager told us we could leave without paying.

So why the negative review?

First and foremost the lady (who seems to be running the bar and taking calls) is just vile in her conduct to be blunt. I can honestly say I have never seen anyone conduct themselves in such a disgusting way. From the very first action she was absolutely full of attitude. She made eye contact with father (who was waiting to be served a beer as we waited to be seated) walked towards him and my father went to place his order, she snapped and said 'you will have to wait' and turned her back. This set the tone for what seems to be typical of her character. She snapped at customers Infront of us which made for very uncomfortable viewing. I will be writing more about her later in my review because she also snapped at my wife before we left.

We were then seated at the corner of the restaurant and to be fair the place was very busy. Whilst I appreciate how busy they are nothing can excuse our seating arrangement. My chair was immediately close to the table behind me, to the point every time the people seated behind me wanted food, I would have to leave my chair, get out the way and wait for them to pass, that's both way too, to the food and when they came back. My mother had to climb my father's chair to get out. My wife sat on the corner couldn't get close to the table because a wall behind her and a bar under the table Infront of her.

The food, whilst very tastey was virtually non existent. We waited over 30 minutes for a refill on the buffet but nothing but vegetable curry, poppadoms and salad had been refilled during that time. We were left with miniscule portions that wasn't even hot. It felt like we were all scurrying for scraps. At the 30 minute mark my father asked if more food will be coming and the manager said food is always coming out, my father pointed out that no ffod had come out in the last 30 minutes. At 40 minutes when we are still hungry and generally frustrated by the whole experience we decided it was time to speak with them.

My wife very politely approached the abrasive lady at the bar and asked if she could speak with the bar manager and she snapped and said 'why, what do you want'. My wife explained that we have effectively had nothing but starters and we are happy to pay for starters and no more. The restaurant manager then very kindly got involved in the conversation to tell us we wouldn't be charged. As this was happening I could see the lady just staring at my wife, her whole demeanor was more suited to that of a bouncer outside a nightclub.

We were not the only set of customers to leave without paying. Immediately after leaving another party of 6 just got up and left. We spoke to them in the carpark and they had exactly the same frustrations.

In all honesty if it wasn't for how horrible the lady at the bar was then I wouldnt have left the bad review. I simply would have been satisfied with the fact we didn't pay anything but her conduct with my father, my wife and every other customer in the restaurant was just unforgivable. Like I say I have never seen such poor people skills from anyone anywhere in my life. Just a extremely unpleasant individual to have...

We made a reservation for a table, expecting it to be ready upon our arrival; however, we were mistaken. Upon our arrival, the staff did not inquire about our name and instead instructed us to wait for a table to become available. After a wait of 25 minutes, we were finally escorted to our table. Our purpose for visiting was to enjoy the Sunday buffet. When asked if we would like drinks, we placed our order, but unfortunately, my drink never arrived.

As we proceeded to select our starters, we all chose onion bhaji, which we brought back to our table. Regrettably, they were not crispy but rather soft and lacking in flavor. After approximately 15 minutes, a waiter approached us and inquired if we had finished, stating that they needed the table. We explained that we had only just begun our starters, yet he walked away without offering any apology.

While observing the food service area, I noticed a waiter on two separate occasions reaching into the food and taking pieces of meat to eat. When our main courses arrived, they were relatively satisfactory; however, once we finished, another waiter approached us, again asking if we had completed our meal and mentioning the need for the table due to their busy schedule. I requested a bit more time for our food to settle.

This is the worst experience we have ever had in any restaurant and hope this feedback does go back to management to adjust the attitude of the waiters. And to stop waiters freely putting their hands in food that the customers are going to eat. Disgusting. So for that reason I and all the people who were with me will never revisit this place.

Could be a good restaurant but the waiters are slacking on so many things, yet this might be the way management have...

The food is phenomenal. Always has been as I've been coming here for many years. I don't come often, maybe twice a year so each time I think about going again I've already forgetten about the poor service from the previous visit.

I've never met such rude people in my life. If you're not sat in there wearing an 800 quid suit and don't pull up in a nice car, they won't look at you twice. They rush you to get out and hound you when you're eating your last bits of food. They rudely ask you to pass them your finished plates, I mean they don't even say please 😂 proper cringe worthy when you see them chatting and being nice to the older customers who come in wearing their fancy clobber and Rolex watches. Ya got no chance if you come in here with a pair of limited edition 110's on 😂

After being sat there for half an hour tonight without having a dessert menu or refill of drinks offered to us, I asked for the bill. Bill came and I'm not joking, the guy who I think is the owner was coming to our table 60 seconds. He came over 5 times as we were trying to split the bill. Proper rude, arrogant man. Couldn't wait to get rid of us and the family sat behind us with a child. He will crack a smile though if he thinks he can get a juicy tip out of you. Proper snake.

Won't be coming back here again. Not until they've sorted their awful customer service out. Shame because the guys in the kitchen...
