We stumbled upon this establishment by pure change and boy where we glad we did, We have stayed in some amazing places over the years and the Wynnstay Arms Ruabon is up there with the best, it really is a great place to stay and what makes it extra special is the Hospitality Team they are truly amazing and an absolute credit the Wynnstay Management and Owner, any Hospitality Business is only ever as strong as the Team that provided the front of house Service and the Wynnstay Team made our Anniversary, The Whole Team where fantastic from Ailsa who went above and beyond to make our Anniversary weekend extra Special to Paula B who looked after us at Breakfast and made us feel like one of the Family taking the time to explain the history of this fantastic building and for both Ailsa and Paula B nothing was too much trouble, the food/Evening Meals are fantastic and Breakfast is second to none, at the risk of the Hotel being sold out next time we visit I do highly recommend the Wynnstay Arms to all who are looking for something Special, congratulations Wynnstay Team you all should be very Proud of what you have accomplished 5 STARS and a Huge Thank you from Chris & Janice

The Wynnstay Arms is a charming and beautifully designed place, full of character and history. Located in a small town, it has that cozy, welcoming feel you don’t often get in big cities. The interior is lovely—clearly a lot of care has gone into preserving its charm while making it comfortable for guests. My stay overall was great. The staff were genuinely friendly and helpful, which made a big difference. Unfortunately, I did have a bit of bad luck with a very noisy neighbor in the next room. For two nights, there was a lot of commotion—floorboards creaking, walls crackling, and noise well past midnight. Not the hotel’s fault of course, but it did affect my sleep. Price-wise, it is on the higher side considering it’s a small village—and just saying, you can find a central London hotel for the same rate. That said, the Wynnstay Arms has its own charm and is totally worth it if you're sticking to the area for a short time. The atmosphere and service really do make it special. Diolch yn fawr!

Room nice (even though ours was booked in 2020 and delayed until 2022 it was room 11 at the top (difficult if you have trouble walking) opposite the church which had a chiming clock!! Breakfast menu offered was great, so chose the smashed avocado over the eggs benedict. Presentation was great avocado was ripe and fine, but ciabatta was stale and rock hard, bacon was overcooked and hard as were the two poached eggs, which were like bullets. The Staff were excellent - attentive and delightful. Bar - small beer selection, some were not available this happened at my last stay although is is a brewery run pub! Prices seemed a tad steep but again excellent and attentive staff. So just a few tweaks and 5 star all the way. See you next year a lovely venue with some local establishments offering a great beer selection.

Dined as a party of 4 at lunch time. Issues with the main course, bacon not crispy as we had been assured it came like that on the BLT. Burnt ciabatta baps. This got sorted. However when it came to the ridiculously overpriced desserts which were 3 white & dark chocolate brownies & ice cream (£7.75 each) and a banana split (£8.95) well I would expect the banana split to be something kind of fancy… you can look at the picture on Trip Advisor of how it resembled something a 3 year old child would serve up! I’d be embarrassed to serve a 14p Aldi banana for the whopping price tag! It also had the advertised cherries and strawberry sauce missing. Our brownies had no white choc chips in and they were burnt and hard on the bottom so had to ‘cut’ with the spoon. Teaspoon sized ice cream scoops too! We made the waitress aware and she said she would speak to the manager whom never addressed this and sent over the full bill of £85. We had to ask to see her - to which she came over defensive, hostile, patronising & rude. Had an excuse for everything… lectured us how a brownie is made & changed her story about it. Told me that’s how a ciabatta is made on the grill and they can’t help the way they burn! She didn’t say much about the banana split. She was shockingly argumentative which made the whole situation uncomfortable - and I have never experienced before (having said that I haven’t had to raise many issues in my life) she said we would have to agree to disagree on the food and she walked away saying that the brownie couldn’t have been that hard if we ate it - well yes I do have my teeth still! She knocked £2 off each dessert but she certainly wasn’t happy about doing it and clearly made us aware of that with her whole demeanour. On that note if it was just the food issues I would have dined here again - but purely the poor attitude and unprofessional behaviour of the manager has put us all off. 2 of the party were regular diners there but I don’t think they will return...

We were first through the door for the opening today and were greeted by a lovely man called Trevor who gave us a really warm welcome. We were absolutely amazed by the transformation its absolutely stunning. Once seated you can either order food from the bar or wait for someone to take your order. Some meals were slightly expensive but the portions were a good size and very tasty. There was a good selection of drinks but sadly for me there was no coke or pepsi which I like to have with a vodka, and no alcopops like wkd which I think would go down a treat in the summer months. After lunch we had a tour of the rooms by a man called John. The rooms vary in size and the family room even has built in bunk beds which were great. They even had board games for the children to play with in the room. Great idea. the rooms themselves are stunning as you can see in the pictures. The one thing that fascinated us was the history of the hotel and the alleged haunting s of the rooms. John informed us of the tunnel underground leading from the hotel to the church which must of been used many years ago. I would like to stay in room 12 one night even though I only live a mile away. They have also got rooms where you can take your dog if you dont like to be parted from them how good is that? The banquet room downstairs has also been refurbished however the lay out is similar. It would be lovely for a wedding venue now, Ideal with the church across the road. The few little extras that we found was very thoughtful of them was there was a jar of reading glasses in the dining area that you could use if you forgot your own and if you got a bit cold they supplied you with a blanket. To John and Trevor who we met today thank you for your hospitality and taking the time out to show us your amazing hotel. I would highly recommend this hotel and I will be a regular visitor in the future, ( If you have coke or pepsi) only joking wine will suffice. Great Hotel with...

Went for dinner last night 4 adults 1 highchair and walked in at 7.20pm. We've been in a couple of times before and had ok food so thought we'd give it another try. We went to the bar and asked for a table and were told we could only sit in the bar area which was fine but the place was empty ! Went to the bar to ask for menus and were told that the kitchen was closing at 7.30 - 7.45 so we'd need to order quickly. We explained that we were waiting for another couple and were told if the kitchen is shut - it's shut!! We should have walked out at this stage but had made arrangements to meet there so left it as someone just having a bad day. We ordered starters and mains and waited for our food. Our friends joined us before the starters had been brought out and we were told that the kitchen was shut so they couldn't order, the attitude of the lady behind the bar was terrible, they quite clearly didn't want us there and were already clearing down the bar washing drip trays and stripping off the bar. Our starters arrived and we asked the waiter to ask the kitchen if we could add two chicken burgers to our order, he did and came back and said no problem. The food itself was very average with tough overcooked calamari, the additional cheese that was supposed to have been added to the burgers arrived on a plate and the prawn linguine was absolutely tasteless. We were trying to order more drinks and the staff were more interested in cleaning than serving us, no one came to clear the table or ask if we wanted desserts. Really really poor all round experience, somewhere we certainly won't be going back to or recommending to anyone. Food and glasses still on the table at 10.30pm and to top it all off - people coming into the bar ordering drinks and eating take away food from the fish and chip shop...
