Nestled in the quaint village of St. Brides Major, Mezze is a hidden gem that promises vibrant flavors of Turkish cuisine. This charming restaurant boasts an impressive array of dishes. From the moment you step through the door, you're greeted with warm smiles and genuine hospitality from the friendly staff. Their welcoming demeanor sets the tone for a dining experience. The tapas-style starters at Mezze are a true delight, offering a tantalizing introduction to the rich and diverse flavors of Turkish cuisine. From the creamy tzatziki to the velvety hummus, each dip is a burst of freshness that perfectly complements the warm, fluffy bread. The halloumi, grilled to perfection, provides a satisfying crunch with every bite, while the dolmas, stuffed grape leaves, offer a burst of tangy goodness. The mains were an absolute treat. The succulent chicken kebab, marinated and grilled to juicy perfection, is a testament to the chef's skill and expertise. Each bite is a harmonious blend of spices, tender meat, and smoky flavor. Similarly, the lamb kofta is a savory delight, with spices expertly balanced to allow the natural flavors of the meat to shine through. Accompanying the mains are sides of fluffy rice and crisp, fresh salad, providing the perfect complement to the rich and savory dishes. The cozy atmosphere, combined with the friendly and attentive service, creates a welcoming environment where diners can relax and enjoy the lovely food and drink that is being served. In conclusion, Mezze is a must-visit for anyone craving tapas and or Turkish cuisine. Highly recommended.

Well... It's taken a while for this lovely old venue to get the right people in with the right offering, and boy is it all right now! Absolutely brilliant! We thought we'd give Mezze a go for a family/birthday meal and what a great decision. Our host was very friendly, engaging, funny, helpful, and efficient... This is a man who clearly loves his work, enjoys his clientele, and wants them to enjoy themselves. The food is outstanding. I chose a BBQ dish - Chicken Shish - cooked over a completely natural barbecue (as opposed to a gas fired or electric grill). The taste was sublime. For my dessert, Baklava. Lush! Of our party of ten, not one had anything other than high praise for their food and service. What a lovely revival of this old pub that's been too long in the doldrums. Welcome Mezze! Parking is reasonably plentiful in the adjacent car park. Take care on exit as visibility to the right is limited; with the building being literally up to the roadside, those plonkers who insist upon exceeding the 20mph limit can arrive quite quickly out of nowhere. Edit: Many revisits later, I stand by my previous review. Absolutely lovely venue and people serving superb food šŸ‘ŒšŸ» Why on earth is this restaurant not regularly packed out? One of the great mysteries of the universe... and I'm taking advantage of the easy booking, so there!

What a lovely place, I've ridden past it many times, always with the intention of stopping to samples the wares. It's lovely inside and the welcome from the owner/chef was a nice touch, always nice to see a chef come out to front of house. There was a friendly atmosphere and prices are very reasonable in my opinion. If I was to point out anything at all for minor improvement. It would be that some of the menus had slightly different dishes/wording and the price for one of the dishes was incorrect. There also appeared to be a limited vegetarian offering. However... My starter was lovely, black pudding with a perfectly cooked poached duck egg and was superbly followed by my lamp chops, crushed potatoes and winter vegetables. The main was exquisite, I have to say well done and a lovely sized portion presented very nicely, with an aroma and taste that was truly awesome. I definitely did not have food envy tonight. Finally my desert was the best pane-cotta that I have ever tasted. Again superbly presented and wonderful. The service was excellent and very friendly. Thank you for a lovely evening with great food, service and atmosphere. I am certain I will be back with family and friends, keep up the good work.

Ordered the garlic chicken and when it arrived I went to put vinegar on the chips. The vinegar lid hadn’t been put on correctly so my meal was then swimming in said vinegar. When the manager came over to deliver the rest of the food to the table, I pointed out the problem and was told that someone, who had been at the table earlier must have been playing with it. I was never offered an apology or a replacement meal (which I would have happily paid for) I proceeded to ask for a separate plate so I could transfer my food but even after doing this, there was now saving it. At no point did anyone come over to ask if everything was ok with the food or if my food was edible.

When it came to collect the rest of the plates off the table the manager asked, if we had all finished and I pointed out that I couldn’t eat my meal , as the vinegar has ruined it. I got no response at all even though she could clearly see that I hadn’t touched any of the food.

When we were due to leave I asked another member of staff if I could talk to the manager and when the manager was walking over to us she said ā€œI know what this is aboutā€

I explained that i felt disappointed that there was no offer for a replacement. She then told us we should have been the ones asking for it to be replaced , that it wasn’t on her to offer.

It wasn’t my fault the lid wasn’t on correctly but I was made to feel like it was.

She clearly new that there was a problem so why not address it in the moment of it happening instead of blaming it on the person previously sat at the table and then ignoring the situation.

The rest of the staff seemed lovely and the food that didn’t have vinegar on was nice enough but I won’t be returning simply due to the shocking customer service I received...

What a real treat, and right on my doorstep, well a couple of miles away anyway. It's always been a lovely pub/restaurant, but has changed hands at least four times in the past 15 years. But, I feel this wonderful Turkish Mezze is here to stay. It's proving very popular and for good reason, the food is amazing. On arrival, we were met by a charming young Turkish girl/lady who showed us to our table. I'd never had Turkish food before, so it was all new to me. We decided to share the Grand Mezze which had pretty much everything to try! There's lots of individual dishes and sides to work through, all tasting amazing. Only once have I tried Calamari and it was rubbery and horrible, but I tried it here and wow, it was succulent and crispy. The table was a palette of colours and so many wonderful smells from the different dishes. I would allow a couple of hours and enjoy the whole experience. The maƮtre d' who was standing in for the owner was a real character and very convivial and funny, and he made me my first Expresso-martini which I thoroughly recommend, if you've never had one! All the staff were so kind and helpful, and the chef was superb. All in all a lovely experience and a will definitely visit again. Just one recommendation, would be that there should just only be background traditional Turkish music, rather than a mix of current chart music and traditional Turkish music. This would enhance the atmosphere more so, and add to the overall...
