Long waits, overworked staff.
We've gone today for a birthday meal for my 3 year old, the restaurant and pub wasn't particularly busy but there were still quite a few people. Our table was at 13.00 and we were all sitting by then, however it wasn't until almost half hour later that someone arrived to take our drinks orders. I even went to the bar to try and order there but was told that it was table service only in the restaurant area.
Once the drinks had been ordered they arrived fairly quickly, and our food was then ordered. Another long wait until it arrived, I didn't note the exact time but would imagine another half hour, when it did turn up it was fine, no issues with the quality of the food, the cleanliness or the friendliness or professionalism of the staff.
The staff in particular were doing a very good job in challenging conditions, running around very busy and in my opinion, overworked, which is what led to the long waits.
My issue is that clearly the are not enough staff on duty, with 10 of us to having to wait for over an hour from sitting down to getting food, with almost half an hour before the staff got a chance to take our order. It was clear from watching them rush around and constantly being stopped by customers to ask for things that they're too busy to deliver a good service and an extra set of hands or two is needed.
The management need to ensure that enough staff are working to fill demand, and from reading other reviews it would appear this is a regular occurrence. For this reason alone I wouldn't recommend the restaurant, and I won't be returning, despite everything...
Read moreI'm the first to give a good review when warranted, however, we decided to go here for an impromptu valentines breakfast as a treat off my Fiancee, Arrived at 0955, on walking in we were met by a lady who abruptly reminded us that everything wraps up at 10.30 of which we were aware after checking before we went anyway. We were given the menu whilst walking to the table and asked what we'd like before we even sat down which wasn't very professional and not very welcoming making us both feel quite pressured to hurry up. When the breakfast did turn up 20 minutes later it was awful, my fiancee ordered the vegan option and the vegan bacon was too hard to eat and the sausage was as dry as a piece of cardboard, mine was even worse, I had to attempt to mop up the oil my food was litteraly swimming in with two serviettes before I could even attempt to eat it and other than the spoonful of baked beans I was served and the toast I made myself, it was simply disgusting, the black pudding was slop, the sausages burnt, the mushrooms cold and all in all the worst cooked breakfast I have ever had, due to this being a treat from my other half, I didn't have the heart to tell her what I really thought of it and ate it as not to ruin the gesture, I left feeling quite sick and not very happy at all
Needless to say, I will not be returning and certainly wouldn't...
Read moreSalmon teriyaki, half the size it should have been. Definitely does not look like the menu picture, but then again how many dishes will!!
Chips were from the week before I'm sure, they were disgusting and very, very brown. Or the were quadruple cooked 🤔. Either way they should have gone in the bin.
Dessert, chocolate orange sundae 😋 what could possibly go wrong with that. Well, it took well over half an hour to be served and we all know what a tall sundae glass looks like. Mine arrived half full and consisted of mostly chocolate sauce, two pieces of small chocolate orange segments & not sure how many scoops of I've cream!! I think it was meant to be two! I found one but unfortunately it took so long to get to our table the other scoop gave up & melted.
You would think they kitchen staff/chef would think to themselves, she doesn't want the whipped cream on top (which makes up the other half of the glass) so why not put another scoop of ice cream. Nope, let's just give her a half glass of chocolate melted goop. Thanks 😠. And to top it off that dessert cost £5.19 😱.
Be careful of what you order and don't be afraid to send it back if your not happy. At the end of the day you are the customer and paying for a service. If they don't like it or can't be bothered & seem annoyed then obviously hospitality is not the...
