Well that was disappointing. We've been gazing across at The Ship for a few days whilst staying on the other side of the bay at Llandonna, and thought today being our last full day before returning home we'd drive over with our dogs and treat ourselves to a decent lunch and a couple of drinks. We were sad to see, shocked even, given the economic climate and the time of year, being about as low as the season gets, to read prominent 'no dogs inside' signs posted on the front door. The sign directed dog owners to an exterior 'heated shack' that looked about as welcoming as a slap in the belly with a dead wet fish. We turned away along with at least half-a-dozen other couples, all with dogs, and left to seek an alternative. We ended up returning to our cottage where dogs are welcomed. Whilst I respect the proprietor's right to make a no dogs ruling I find it astonishing that interior space, with hard floor, is not set aside for dog owners. All I can assume is that it makes economic sense to them. As for the rest of us passing by on this famously dog-friendly beach (certainly as it is out of season), whether on wheels or foot on the Anglesey Coastal Path, with our furry friends alongside, and all hoping for a dog and human friendly welcome, I'm afraid the message is: 'GO ELSEWHERE'!

Attended on a Monday late afternoon / evening at the beggining of winter half term. Access from the main road is good albeit tight if in a larger vehicle but in keeping with all the roads in the area. Site is a really good old fashioned pub with a really nice atmosphere. Very dog friendly with a small inside room catering for dog owners and plenty of outside space / tables. Busy and small bar area but well staffed and managed. Good amount of room inside, typically sprawling and tight passages for a pub / building of this age. Great service from all staff we encountered. Friendly, helpful and accommodating. Cant speak to its accesibility but would suggest wheelchair users are best served staying outside which is spacious and well laid out. Amazing views and literally you walk across the car park and onto the beach. Food at our visit was very good, the Chowder was fantastic and a really generous portion (We had the main course not starter option). We also had the chilli king prawn starters and Salt and Pepper squid which was very good. Overall very easy to reccomend.

Second visit this year, and still can't find fault. Lovely old building, set in a lovely scenic area of Anglesey, although you will be hard pressed to find any part of Anglesey that doesn't come with outstanding views! Hygiene comes with four stars, not sure if that's because there's outside seating, but to be honest, this place is spotless! There are two rooms at the front of the building, one of which leads to another around the back, plus more upstairs. Disabled toilets are on the ground floor, for the rest of us, they're upstairs, and again, spotless. The menu is a good size, and right proper tasty. Today, my wife had the roast lamb rump, which was apparently, lush! Personally, I had the Dragon lamb pie. Just a hint of chilli there then. Found the owner, and his staff to be very polite and friendly. In the summer, this place would be rammed, inside and out, and from past experience, it is. Bring your dogs people, they're welcome. Not first visit, nor will it be my last.

Overpriced... compared to other local establishments... Pint of Timothy Taylor Landlord £5.25. Tiny bowl of chips £4.95 Yes nice pub Yes stunning location But its a treat and obviously not for locals at those prices. Been coming for over 10 years and quality has always been ok but not spectacular. Theres far better locally with in my opinion fresh better quality food (Yes Ive eaten a few times there but not today) Currently staying locally for a week with Family for my 50th Birthday. Usually 3 visits to The Ship when we stay locally. Based on our visit today we shall be looking at other better quality and more reasonable places to eat and drink locally. Sorry to all who work there but.... Im never shy on spending money if the quality deserves the price. Not today and when a beer pump sucks the real Ale back out of the glass then serves a "Fairy Liquid" bubble head.... Your barrel is empty or at the very least your pumps need servicing. "The Beer is lively" is maybe something you can fob a 20yr old with.... but please!!! I concur with others that I saw the Chowder.... Disappointed would had been my conclusion and the Roast Beef dinner was at best mediocre. You have an amazing establishment in a stunning location. Its your duty to do it proud with exquisite food complemented with superb Real Ales, wines and spirits. I suggest a good re-evaluation on the business model and quality is desperately required. Please don't let your reputation slip away. 9 years of being impressed. This year we left sadly dissapointed and...

We booked a table for 2 plus 2 dogs and we were given one of those small round tables with another small round table directly next to it. Good you might think but, only the one table was ours and the other was booked for someone else. We then asked for a larger area which they hadn't got so, we decided to tuck the dogs under the bench seat and looked at the menu.

The menu is a little restricted, there was only one choice that I could find to suit me.

We waited for ages to order then realised that you had to order at the bar (this was not explained to us when being seated).

I then went to order at a very busy bar having to shout my order over to the guy at the till. I ordered a Chicken Ceaser Salad for my wife and Sea Food Chowder for me. The guy taking the order shouted above the noise "Salmon with the Ceaser Salad", I couldn't get my wife to hear me from where I was so, thought I'd say yes to the addition of Salmon to the Chicken Caesar Salad. But however, the order came out as Smoked Salmon Ceaser Salad - no Chicken and my wife hates Smoked Salmon?

The girl that bought the food had gone by the time we noticed and the bar was packed so, my wife decided to just eat the Salad and pushed the Salmon to one side

My Seafood Chowder was excellent however.

So - the long and short of this review is the Ship Inn is in a lovely setting right by the sea but the menu is limited and the place is very...

We visited today for Sunday lunch - we booked based on reviews from a FB Anglesey group. Everything was absolutely fabulous - lovely warm Welcome, very friendly staff who were lovely to our pooch too 🤗👍. Three of us dining - we all had starters, mains and dessert. Mackerel pate was full of fish with a lovely side salad. Husband said it was better than what I make! Son had King prawns in a chowder sauce - I hoped to try it, but was finished off pretty quickly. 3 roasts - turkey and beef. The meat was tender and tasty. Plentiful, vegetables were all cooked perfectly, roast potatoes and mash. Husband happy as there was plenty of gravy too. We had ice creams to finish. I'm so pleased to have found the Ship Inn through FB reviews - we are only visiting Anglesey for a week, but we shall book to return for an evening meal while here. The evening menu looked very good too. Another thing to mention was that there was light options on the Sunday menu too, should one of you not want a roast meal. We all very much enjoyed - our pooch was happy, and was fed biscuit bones by staff 😂 We would absolutely recommend - a beautiful location too. Husband enjoyed the Conwy local beer also, which we were able to buy to take away. Thank you Ship Inn 👍💐. Just how a Sunday lunch should be. Best wishes...
