Don’t let the title fool you. The Tea Rooms at the pet cemetery are superb. The location is jaw dropping, full of nature, peaceful and relaxing. Yes, there is a pet cemetery, but the grounds are pristine, and the cafe is set back. It is very popular for families to lay there beloved pet to rest. Sitting in the cafe, you do not feel anything but relaxed and hungry. You are greeted by a friendly team, seated quickly and given a menu that is full of traditional food. Our drink arrived quickly and our food followed shortly afterwards. I had a traditional ploughman’s, my partner chose Welsh Rabbit. The portions are very generous indeed. It tasted fresh, with generous portions of cheese, ham, salad and a side dish of three pickles and bread. Both meals are recommended. Then if you’re still hungry, you can have your cake and eat it. All the cakes here homemade. They look and taste amazing and if you’re too full, you can buy cake to take home. Prices are similar to pubs, but here, they portions you get make it good value. Once we had finished our meal, we sat out on the veranda watching the Housemartins swoop and dive. Each way I looked was a different bird or flower. The Tea rooms at the pet cemetery are a real treat and I highly recommend a drive to Brynford to find it.

Disappointing - Booked afternoon tea for four to celebrate my daughters birthday. Service was great initially. As we were boxing up leftovers we noticed green mould on one of the pieces of cheese. We pointed this out to a waitress. She went to speak to the manager Karen who was stood 6ft away from us. Karen was seen shaking her head, the waitress then carried on her duties. We left it 5 minutes then called over a different waitress & explained the situation. She went off, took the cheese. Came back & said that the manager Karen offered us ÂŁ2 off the bill for the cheese & said they'd started using a new supplier. We asked to speak to the manager Karen again. The waitress came back & offered us cheese & crackers to take away (last thing we wanted, as we'd already eaten some of the mouldy cheese) We refused this & for a third time asked to speak to the manager Karen. She sent over the dept manager Hazel. She came charging over & said we had to pay the bill. We hadn't once said we weren't paying the bill. She offered us 10% off the bill which my daughter accepted. On her return to the manager, Karen withdrew this offer. We paid in full & left. The whole experience ruined my daughter's birthday. We won't be returning. Would not recommend. Very poor customer service!

We booked the team rooms on the recommendations from other reviews, but what a MISTAKE that was. Overall the food was okay, nothing special.

The poor waitresses are run off their feet, trying to serve everyone as best they could. When we first arrived we our table wasn't set up correctly. We had to request more chairs. Then when our drinks order was taken, it took forever for them to be served. We also ordered two fruitshoots for two of the children with us. Upon our order, we asked if we could have an afternoon tea for two for the children to share between them with two of the children only being 2 years old they barely even touched anything.

This was all fine our food was served - 45minutes after we ordered it. However it arrived, it was okay, nothing special, definitely not something I would highly rate it was just okay. The cheese on the savoury afternoon teas was warm, like it had been left on the side and not refrigerated at all. The cheesecake was melting and very soft, spilling onto the savoury parts of the meal.

When it came to pay for the bill we had noticed we have been charged 4 adult afternoon tea's for the children. When we had only asked for 2 so they could be split with the portions being so big and the children so small. At this point the manager, said well you could have had children's afternoon tea for them but you didn't ask. This was not meantioned on their menu's nor was it suggested to us at the time of booking nor at the table when we arrived.

Due to this the waitress who has served us apologised for the mistake and asked karen for some help with the till. Karen then turned around in front of a restaurant full of customers, and said "that will be coming straight out of your wages." The poor girl burst into tears and ran out of the tea room's all whilst karen stood behind tutting and shaking her head.

After our bill being amended, my sisters mother in law went outside to find the young lady who has been brought to tears, only to be told by multiple staff that this is nothing, the way they are treated is awful, they're spoken down to and brought to tears on a regular basis.

We honestly felt so sorry for the staff having to work under such horrendous management.

We definitely will not be returning at all. And I hope the rest of the staff that have to work under karen go on to find better jobs where managers will show them what good management is and hopefully restore their faith that not all are like who they have to work...

This was our first visit to the tea room after hearing good things about the place. I'd booked a table for 3:30 in advance for a family get together for afternoon tea. Lovely surroundings and building although decor a bit tired. Service was ok during the ordering and receiving our food (a young girl also brought over plates and was very polite). Sandwiches were ok, as was the soup. Cakes were unfortunately not as good, some very dry others past their best. Which I was very surprised by, having heard great things about the cakes here.

Unfortunately service took a turn for the worse when an older male waiter abruptly told us that they were closing at 5 and needed to clean up before then, therefore we had to leave (some of the party were still eating). This made us feel very awkward and unwelcome and quite frankly I was left disappointed and embarrassed, having myself suggested we eat at the tea room. We've never had the misfortune to experience such poor service in other similar  establishments before. Then there was the matter of an extra drink being on the bill, which we pointed out and the waiter went to correct the bill only for another waiter to come over and argue about this before realising that only 6 drinks were ordered, 5 included within the afternoon tea price and only one additional to be paid on top.

We paid the bill, we were then waiting for change, considering they were in a rush for us to leave they were in no rush to return with the change and we were left waiting. We could hear staff saying how they wanted to get home etc, it was now 5pm by this point. Eventually, already fully aware we were no longer welcome we went and asked for our change and left. I'd advise that if staff are scheduled to leave for 5, closing time should be adjusted accordingly and customers made aware of this prior to their visit.

All in all, this service left a sour taste, with average at best food. We will not be returning and on this basis can not recommend to others. Shame as the building and surroundings...

I ordered a birthday cake at a cost of £65 for a special birthday party for my husband. Picked it up at 12 on Saturday. We cut it at 5 o’clock and it was in edible ( we said it was raw but the manager said it was dense!!!)

What an embarrassment 30 people waiting for cake, no way I could serve it to them. I was nearly in tears and so upset by the whole situation.

Had a house full of people and a busy day Sunday so rang about 4 on the Sunday to complain. The manager never even apologised once or had any empathy to the situation, just said “ he’s been baking cakes for 30 years”, bring it back tomorrow! When I met the baker the next day I had to laugh as he is no older than 30! So must have been baking in the womb.

Took it back the next day where we met the manager and the baker. The manager once again was insisting it’s not raw it’s dense, it’s because it’s been in the fridge for a couple of days! When I said I only picked it up at 12 and cut it at 5 the baker said “no in the fridge here” so don’t know how long it had been baked for before we picked it up.

When I challenged the manager about her attitude and the total lack of apologies or empathy to the situation she snapped “ we were extremely busy when you phoned” that is no excuse what so ever and she is an extremely poor example of good customer service and relations.

I had occasion to complain a few years ago but that was on behalf of a group that I visited with and the complaint was dealt with pleasantly and sympathetically.

Giving the way that complaint was dealt with we have visited and recommended the tea rooms numerous times since and have always been totally satisfied, hence why we ordered the cake from them.

Never again and never will I recommend to anyone mostly down to the managers attitude and making us feel like it was us that was in the wrong and we were just an inconvenience to her.

I did get a full refund but I would have liked a nice fresh cake to serve to my guests!! Date of...
