Firstly, the staff we had contact with were great and the 'Full Breakfast' was excellent.|Unfortunately just about everything else about our stay fell very short of satisfactory. Although very dated the room looked ok at first glance but soon revealed itself to be anything but. There was a small fridge under a countertop unplugged. The chap showing us the room (seemed like the person in charge) said it just needed plugging in if we wanted to use it. 2nd evening when I came to plug it in there was no socket under the counter and the three single sockets in the room were all out of reach for the very short flex.|The bathroom was the main problem. The water pressure - hot and cold - was little more than a trickle. The toilet cistern took ages to refill, you couldn't even hear it filling. To use the shower we had to run the hot water for an eternity (certainly more than five minutes, possibly ten) before it started to warm up. Then the towel rail, which was simply a length of chromed copper pipe was too short for the wall brackets and fell down every time it was touched.||We booked a table to host a couple of friends on the first night and there were several points of dissatisfaction for us with the meal. A garlic bread accompanying the Lasagne came with a thick coating of some sauce which looked like a creamy pesto. The menu description made no mention of it and it wouldn't have been chosen had it done so. A Duck meal 'Served Pink' had no pink at all and the 'Panache of Vegetables' it was served with amounted to two thin strips of carrot and one thinner strip of stem broccoli.||After a long day out on our second day we returned about 8:30 with making a beeline for the bar plan only to find the place locked up and the bar/public area in darkness.|Evidently they close early on Sundays. No mention of it on the website and it wasn't explained to us upon arrival.||Breakfast on both days was quiet, evidently there were few guests staying. When I went to check-out and settle the bill the stock question 'hope everything was alright for you?' was asked. I didn't mention the restaurant issues as that had been discussed with staff at the time but did explain our disappointment with the room. The explanation given was interesting. Apparently the rooms 'at this end' were refurbished and 'are amazing but Covid halted the work and the rest haven't been done' to which I suggested that perhaps they should be placing guests in the 'amazing' rooms if they hope ever to see them again.|Unfortunately they won't be...

Read morePassed this place so many times and always thought it looked lovely from the outside and must try it….yesterday we did and so happy we finally tried it. Just as beautiful inside and the food was excellent. Being GF can be a challenge when eating out. I was made to feel relaxed. I explained I had coeliac disease, the knowledge of the staff was superb and made me feel very confident in the menu. ||There was an option on the main for pea, asparagus and spinach risotto with a fried egg as a GF option but above was the same risotto with pan fried hake and prawns which didn’t have the GF reference. I queried this as I prefer fish rather to an egg. The lady taking our order asked for a moment to check with the chef, she returned five mins later to say that the chef had checked all the ingredients and it was GF. Please, please adapt your menu to denote it is GF as I’m sure it will be ordered by my fellow coeliac friends. ||For starter I had the pleasure of pate with GF bread and chutney. What a treat, there are so many establishments that have this on the menu but it isn’t GF normally just because of the bread. ||My daughter is 8 and thoroughly enjoyed her garlic bread starter and pizza main. She even had dessert of lemon sorbet and devoured everything. We will definitely be returning with my husband as sadly he was working.||Honestly couldn’t fault anything, the place is in a beautiful location with a stunning view, the decor and seating is warm and inviting but most importantly, the food is fresh and delicious.||If I had to make one suggestion, as there is so much choice for Gluten Free options, perhaps have a completely separate menu. As coeliac is not a lifestyle choice, it is lovely when you go out to eat to have a menu you can look at and know you can have anything off that menu rather than looking and thinking, that sounds beautiful only to realise it’s not suitable by this is by no means a deal breaker merely a suggestion for us coeliacs which gives that extra edge and touch to our dining experience.||Thank you to all of you for being so courteous, attentive and above all, serving beautiful food. Looking forward to visiting again soon, hopefully next weekend! ||Olwyn &...
