PHOTOS FROM 2023 VISIT 29/10/23 Booked a table for Sunday lunch and was greeted on arrival, we ordered via the app and drinks arrived in around 5 minutes, we were a little early for the carvery but were allowed to wait at our table. Three of us had the traditional carvery and 1 had a child's size with free dessert opting for the strawberrys and ice cream. The traditional carvery was ok, the Turkey was very nice and vegetables tasted fresh so nothing to moan at there. My child on the other hand was disappointed as the female carver was rude to him when he asked to try all meats, she abruptly said NO and that he could choose two, now he's only little and I doubt he understood that there were both pork and gammon on offer as well as turkey and beef so he just politely asked for beef and turkey and his plate was frisbee'd at him. When we got back to the table his dessert was waiting for him which was a little odd but there was a confusing option during ordering so it may have been my fault. His carvery was ok however the carver gave him the rock hard end from the beef joint which was like a solid block (picture included) so he ended up with some of our meat. A better experience than before but for the female carver and at just under £13 for a roast dinner it is quite pricey and not worth it, we gave it a chance but I doubt we'll ever be back. 11/08/20 1 STAR Absolute chaos. We arrived before our booked time to be told that our booking had been cancelled, the waiter gave us the telephone number of who cancelled it which wasn't our number, he completely put the blame on us, i said we had drove for 3 hours so why would we have cancelled it. It was booked days in advance and i had the email confirmation to show it but he wanst interested in the reference number I had been given. He attempted to argue but we stood our ground and was told to wait in the beer garden whilst it was sorted and we could have a drink whilst we wait. No one came out to take a drinks order but after 10 minutes we were told we could have a table if we still wanted one. Of course we did, we had made a long journey for our pre booked family meal to kick start our holiday. We were sat in a corner without any menus so I had to wander to locate someone. A waitress followed me to our table and gave us a couple of menus, i asked how we needed to order as other places have had apps or 1 person at the bar to order for the party but she said I can take it now if you like, we hadn't even looked at the menu which she was aware of because she just gave them us. We ordered our meals and drinks and was immediately asked to pay, this was rushed and the waitress came across very rude. We finally had a drink then after 40 minutes part of our order had arrived but one of us had ordered a carvery but were unaware of the process as we hadn't been here before so again we found a different waitress who said just go up to the counter when ready. As he got to the counter he was asked for his number which he wasn't given and once the carver found his details it appears the wrong meal was put through meaning that the full works carvery turned into a normal one. The meat portion was good, the selection of vegetables were impressive and very tasty, with the server plating the veg up it meant that portion sizes were smaller than normally chosen but ok, the addition of mushy peas went well with the mash and gravy. The rest of the food was of good quality its just a shame that the initial approach of the waiter on the door was confrontational and it was clear that he could not work under the pressure of a busy restaurant that it spoilt our family meal. We had intended to have desserts and sit outside for a few drinks whilst the kids play but after being made to feel unwelcome in a place we hadn't been before after a booking system fault that was nothing to do with us, it soured the whole evening and put a downer on our holiday. Not so sure why the bad reviews regarding this place, maybe I just came at a right time but from word go our experience was great. All staff were very polite. 3 in particular. Cara and Gaby were brilliant. Helped us make sure we got the most for our money with our discounts to the point we actually got more than one discount ag the same time which isn’t usually what they allow. Was very friendly and welcoming to us all. The cook in the white clothes (didn’t have chance to get his name) went out of his way to accommodate me and one of my children by getting topping out of the back that were not recommended toppings to use for the ice cream machine because my daughter ordered the ice cream purely because it came with toppings and there was none on display. Even when I was feeling embarrassed about my daughter trying to top up the tub as high as she could and trying to rush her to hurry up he couldn’t stop telling me not to worry and was so polite. We all really enjoyed our food too and puddings. Nice to have a different variety of food you don’t see in a lot of places and reasonably priced considering. We had 2 adults and 3 kids, all had a meal, pudding and drink and the 2 adults were alcoholic. Came to just under £50. Only thing we was gutted about it we travelled a bit out to go because it had a play area for the kids and it was closed because a tiny spot on the floor had come out which we couldn’t see. However the kids got provided with crayons and paper/puzzles and said it’s still the best place they’ve been too. I’d definitely recommend the meat feast calzone for adults too 😋

Went here with my partner last night as she wanted a carvery, I had a Margherita pizza with jalapenos. The 'Stonehouse Pizza' is a big selling point for the restaurant, with the fresh pizza charging quite a lot all things considered, pizzas typically £12. The pizza took a while to come out, whilst I watched my partner eat her carvery, which is odd as stonebaked pizza should take no longer than 10 minutes. My partner enjoyed hers but it was nothing to rave about, limited to one Yorkshire pudding and roast potatoes not tasting crispy at all. My pizza was quite dry, probably overdone, and was not worth the cost. Besides these comments, as niche as they are, the most DIABOLICAL thing so far was the desert. After a disappointing meal, I ordered a sticky toffee pudding, looking forward to what is described as 'a home baked sticky toffee pudding drizzled with piping hot custard and toffee sauce'. What the chef brought out to me (why he brought it out I do not know) was not a home baked sticky toffee pudding, but a cold packet toffee muffin, absolutely drowned in toffee and custard, which was also lukewarm. The picture doesn't do justice how sad the muffin looked on my plate, and how disappointing the 'homebaked' lie was. Would not return or recommend.

Upon arriving we were greeted by a lovely woman with a face of thunder and defeat, upon seeing the lady we were told there was a 45 minute wait on food which was understandable seeing as we didn't book a table and there was a number of big tables in. After placing our order with poor defeated woman at the bar we waited over an hour for food that didn't arrive, after asking about our food, they brought it out after another 10 minutes and half our tables food came out, after another 10 minute wait in the quietened down establishment we asked about the rest of our tables food upon which I found out that they forgot to make it, after another 5 minutes they came out with a portion of loaded fries which surprisingly were cold with quagulated cheese sauce topping them, by this point I had had enough and was just hungry, I went to the defeated looking server that looked even more upset that I interrupted her taking 5 minutes to nibble on some cake (poor woman looked like she needed a hug at this point) I kept calm and asked for a refund at this point because it was clear that I was not going to get any decent food here, if any at all, the other server that was giving me a refund explained it wasn't normal to experience this kind of disappointment with the place however looking though the comments on Google it looks quite regular recently to be fair, she also explained that there wasn't a kitchen manager or head chef at this place anymore, the kitchen definitely needs some form of leadership because what I witnessed from the kitchen it was a disappointing joke, the food that did come out was below sub par, me and my family will not be returning for the disappointing atmosphere and the below poor quality food, I do have much more to say about the place but I feel this review will be too long, overall severely...

We came tonight as we were having issues at the Haven site we're currently staying on and we also have a Stonehouse restaurant in town where we live.

The colleague serving at the bar was very good, frankly the 2 star rating is unfair on her but the rating is as it is due to the speed and quality of service elsewhere was not good enough for Saturday tea time.

We ordered three main courses and desserts, the main courses took over half an hour to come out, another table near us (who had bigger issues with their food than we did) got their food before us despite arriving and ordering afterwards.

Once it arrived, the portion size was not worth £10.49 and mu burger had barely any bbq sauce on it. I would have brought it up but queueing time at the bar was so slow my food would have probably been cold once I'd got sauce for it and waiting staff were not approachable. The eggs that accompanies the gammon were not runny. The lack of variety with the vegetables available at the carvery area was also disappointing.

This one is an issue that needs improving on is the failure to offer customers sauces with their dinner. Logic would dictate that burger and chips requires a little sauce on the side.

The puddings came out fairly quickly at this point but the brownie being hot in the middle and cooler on the outside was a problem.

I would have brought this up with management at the end of my visit as I feel like we overpaid for what we had. I get the feeling they were understaffed tonight and I'm completely sympathetic to that problem.

We're not local to the area so we definitely won't be returning here. Dining choices might be sparse in the area but I would recommend anyone considering stopping here going down the road to...
