I have been to the Laughing Buddha on quite a few occasions, and has always been a wonderful experience, with fine tasty food cooked an presented to impeccable standards.
However, last night were not the case
Some friends of ours came a very long distance, to visit and share with us their pre 70th birthday celebration.
I had raved to them, about this restaurants beautifully cooked cuisines with good portions and thought it was the perfect place to entertain them, along with a nice additional bottle of house wine to wash everything down and be merry.
The 1st dish starter courses were excellent, with Prawn Toast, Wantons, ribs etc.. Fantastic.
We ordered our main courses, and I ordered my favourite for years, Duck - served with an Orange Sauce and Boiled Rice.
The Duck portions were for once, incredibly scimpy, and the sauce was bitter and sour.
If that wasn't bad enough, as I started to eat my rice with Chopsticks, at the bottom under the rice were a bit long BLACK HAIR.
This immediately made me feel physically sick, and although I were offered a replacement main course, I thought again and declined it.
My night was totally spoiled, and I felt grossly embarrassed and humiliated after all the positive things and great credits I had given to our friends about this once great restaurant.
I have vowed NEVER to return again after a drop in hygiene standards like that, as well as a horrible vile tasting main course.
There usually are male chefs cooking your food in the kitchen, which can be seen through large clear glass windows... But on this particular night, all the cooking was performed by very young girls.
This restaurant hasn't just lost one future customer, but Four..or maybe Six.
Sorry laughing Buddha, but you need to pull up your socks, and get your once high standards...
Read moreWent there for the first time as it was the start of a mates stag night, as a table was booked they shown us to a table straight away with a very friendly approach and very welcoming. Asked if we knew what we wanted so I said that I've not been here before so just looking for now,we were given a drinks menu as the waitress asked if we like to order drinks first, so we did and they were brought to us so quick, when we ordered food the allergy question was asked which was nice and as I have a seriously intolerance to eggs the waitress was so (bless her ) panicky but absolutely amazing about it,I explained as I work with food I no what I can and can't have etc,but seriously she couldn't have gone out of her way more to tend to my needs always checking up on me in which she really didn't need to but that showed that she actually cared and you don't often find that anywhere so I'm very great full for that and also personally appreciate it. My food came as asked all at one time starter and main together as I didn't want to complicate things as my friend's ordered what seemed to be everything on the menu as it couldn't be finished, it was all amazing, food was wonderful the staff their were very professional and the woman who focused on my needs I couldn't thank you more sadly I didn't see your name otherwise I'd name you personally but it's the lady I tipped as it was from me personally just as a thank you, also spoke I think to the owner or manager before we left who made a little joke to me as I tipped the waitress and he was nice too, me myself if I'm that way again as I don't live far away I'll definitely be going back as I enjoyed it so much, from my point of view your doing a great job so...
Read moreHate posting reviews, but feel I need to provide a balance. Having read loads of amazing reviews about this place I was looking forward to going. However, we had 2 different chicken dishes which both looked and tasted practically the same, apart from some chilli and carrot on one dish. The chicken tasted like ready cooked chicken from a freezer that they warmed up and put a jar of sauce on. A bit like a £2 microwave meal from a supermarket. But these were £10.50 each!! Our starters were nice, but be wary of the main meals... the staff kindly gave us an alternative for free and didn't charge us for one of the dishes which we didn't eat... the other dish we only ate because it was 8pm and we were hungry! The rice was tasteless and I could've made it myself easily enough with a sachet. The bill would've been over £40 for 2 people if we hadn't complained, but to be honest I could've had the same quality from the local shop for £6 all in. Friendly staff but we won't be...
