Fantastic ! My brother and I came down to buy a new car from Volkswagen and found this place literally up the road from the dealership. We were travelling 2+ hours each way so needed a good spot for food.

Although busy I haven’t a bad word to say about the staff, all were super friendly and sorted us a fresh clean table for 2 after the previous eaters had left. We were greeted by a lovely lady who sent us to the bar to wait for a drink. My brother got a pint of Guinness and even though we grew up in Ireland he said it was a really good Guinness which is rare to get outside of Ireland. We were served by Rob M who was absolutely delightful. He recommend a dish as I was torn and said to try the lamb as it has been really popular I took his suggestion and wasn’t disappointed. He checked on us to make sure we were okay for drinks and that the food wasn’t going to be long.

Considering it was so busy our food came relatively fast and was hot fresh and scrumptious. Rob M came to check on us during and after and I must say he gave such a warm feeling to us and made us feel almost at home. Rob M in my opinion is a quality host and does his job fantastically - great guy.

The place itself is so well organised with staff, it boasts beautiful original features throughout with some great artwork. There is also a big fire that was lit where near we were sat.

The place was very clean even down to the cutlery and the napkins were great quality.

Overall I would highly recommend this place to anyone. Just wish I was closer to call more.

It is part of a company that also own Sutton hall in Macclesfield which I have also been to. Their menu is dated and it is updated regularly so it does change but there is always something that catches my eye. It takes ‘pub grub’ to the next level. Please visit if...

As I couldn't get an answer on the phone I booked on line, easy enough although the time we wanted to eat wasn't on the page, so I booked the earliest slot 90 mins later than we wanted but hey ho, it was Sunday. As I had gone on line I couldn't help but notice the number of recent bad reviews, poor service, slow service, barely average food and more. I almost cancelled but decided against it. Anyhow off we went to meet my sister and dad for a late lunch/early dinner. Parking was easy, loads of spaces, not too busy indoors, in fact remarkably quiet considering we couldn't get an answer on the phone or our desired time to dine. Stood at the bar for what felt like an inordinate length of time whilst staff dutifully ignored us made me consider again the poor reviews. However after a few minutes we were greeted, drinks poured and directed to our table 45 minutes earlier than we had booked. From this point onwards it was a joy. A lovely waitress looked after us primarily with others dipping in and out as required. All 4 main meals were gorgeous, well presented and very tasty. Sweets were equally as impressive and the final bill was far from eye watering, not cheap certainly but par for the course and overall great value. It just goes to show that reviews are 'of the moment' and very much the opinion of the reviewer. This reviewer and his family had a great time and will go back but don't blame me if your experience isn't the same. Thank you Pant O'r Ochain, fab end to...

I'm so disappointed about today in the Pant. The staff are great as usual but the quality has reached an all time low. I've no idea what's happened. It used to be great and a simple dish like fish and chips which I ordered was utterly abysmal. The chips were like bullets but cold, the fish was thin, narrow and didn't look like a fish, the batter looked like it had been cremated. Guests which I brought were nice enough to the staff when they came round to check if everything was ok, and out of politeness, as most do, said fine. But none of them were impressed with their food today either. Below average a colleague said when he commented on his fish and chips. I sent it back to the kitchen, and re-ordered steak burger but then I changed my mind and informed staff by the kitchen door, they had all congregated peering at my plate of fish and chips. I asked them if any of them would like to be served that and eat it, everybody looked at the floor. And yet nobody apologised, apart from the girl who served us, nothing was offered in reparation like some soft drinks taken off the bill and I just sat there hungry but offended by what had been placed in front of me. I'm so disappointed as i've taken clients and colleagues there for years, and now every time I go it feels like Russian roulette on the...

Although after many recommendations and loving all other Brunning and Price pubs this was a disappointment. Food was alright. Steak was very tough and gristly and because of this, was very overpriced. Service was really quite slow but the staff were very helpful and friendly when we did get seen to. Atmosphere was also alright, I accept that when bringing a dog into an establishment that serves food you are likely to be seated at an inferior table but our table was sort of rammed in a corner with little ambiance or background music. Had we not have been eating this would have been absolutely no problem at all, but when you can see much nicer tables just 20 meters away from you it can be a little discouraging. Admittedly, we did not pre book and visited on a very busy sunday afternoon; but this has not discouraged us from visiting again where we hope to have a better experience and turn this review from 3 stars to 5 stars - the same as my review of The Architect (Chester) and The Rake (Ellesmere Port).

Ah the Pant. A lovely venue for a dinner, with adequate service. I feel more at home here, with the cosy interior provided by the homely interior as it was actually renovated into a pub from a manor home. This rich past is displayed in certain areas, and can lead to spooky happenstance such as glasses falling off of tables and the like. I am not much for superstition however, but these situations are quite fun to see. The garden is lovely, especially when empty. The free green and lake provide a lovely accompaniment to any dinner or lunch, though I may not comment on their breakfast options. Dogs being welcomed is a brilliant choice, may I mention, as the pub is found on a great way to walk if going towards Marford for their quarry and I heartily recommend visiting the pub for food whenever you can.
