Would avoid this place at all costs. Only stopped for a drink with my husband, brother and his girlfriend. On walking in to find a table we we abruptly told by an older lady staff member to find a table however she hadn't cleaned them yet. Then proceeded to ask my brother if we were having food as she 'hasn't had a drink all day' As I went to the bar and was taking drinks back to the table I accidentally spilt a tiny bit from the one onto the floor. I told this numerous times to my group and even proceeded to stand by the spillage to make sure no one trips. Now this is a very small place so everyone seen and heard me including this older lady staff member however no one acknowledged me so I then proceeded to sit down with my group. As we were finishing and getting ready to leave the older lady staff member noticed and very loudly announced 'oh look, who spilt that and didn't even tell us' as she grabbed a mop. My husband told her that I had said when I spilt it and she denied it. I then told her myself as I was walking out to her still saying no. By this time everyone in the place was looking at us. I found this very very daunting and very rude. I suffer majorly with anxiety especially being out in public and the way we were treated today at this place was absolutely disgusting. I think this place needs to give their staff members some customer service training ASAP! Would never go back, would never recommend and would avoid...
Read moreCar park is handy, the main parts of the pub are well furnished with a rustic feel. The toilets did look particularly neglected in terms of maintenance, however. The beer garden looked very inviting. We weren't welcomed by staff, instead we headed over to the bar to ask for our table.
The food on offer was good, however it took just over 50 minutes for us to get our food. Though, the quality and presentation of the food was excellent.
While the staff were friendly and professional when they did interact with us, we did often feel quite forgotten by the staff, who we could only get a hold of by walking to the bar. The landlord/manager was often busy chatting with other patrons near the bar, and other staff seemed busy - though they didn't even glance over to us as continuously passed us.
In terms of Covid measures, tables were more or less distanced appropriately, masks worn as required, good amount of sanitiser stations, etc., however the exit wasn't marked clearly enough. We did observe local patrons who weren't distancing as required; this wasn't checked on or enforced...
Read moreWe had previously popped into the Red Lion for a drink and after spending a lovely afternoon with wonderful service from Wendy Woo, we ordered chicken wings and truffle fries which were absolutely delicious and were told about their Sunday roast which we booked in for today. We'd been looking forward to it all week after such a great experience last time and it was wonderful! We'd booked in for 5pm after work which was fabulous to still get a roast dinner at this time and the lamb was delicious as were all the trimmings. They were also kind enough to accommodate some changes to items on our meal when we ordered which was a lovely touch. This is a wonderful cosy pub with a lovely atmosphere, a great soundtrack and some of the most welcoming service we've both had. Again, brilliant service from Wendy Woo who is an absolute gem and we already can't wait to pop back. Thanks so much to the team for another...
