Absolutely TERRIBLE pub. The old short guy who works there is the RUDEST person I have ever met in my whole entire life. I went to the pub with my family and in particular, my sister and her kids. My oldest nephew was sat at the table, silently colouring and being such a good boy. And my other youngest best nephew (1 years old) was being walked around the restaurant with my sister, being very good, quiet and just pointing at paintings and being smiley. ||This guy had the absolute cheek to come up to my sister and tell her that she needs to stop her children running around his restaurant. He was so rude and said this in front of all of our family and grandparents. It completely humiliated her and she felt so singled out and embarrassed. My sister is always so considerate of her children in restaurants and always ensures they are polite and well behaved, so to be humiliated like this is absolutely unacceptable. ||Not only this, but the food was absolutely disgusting. The lasagne was gross, tasteless and just overall unremarkable - it also felt like a horrid environment. ||I wasn’t going to write this review, as I never ever write bad reviews, however after taking a look at all of the other reviews and everyone else saying how horrible they are at this pub towards children, I felt as if it was absolutely necessary to ensure everyone else knows about our experience here. ||I believe this man is rude, misogynistic and hates children. If you have kids, I urge you NEVER to bring them here - you will be made to feel terrible and you won’t enjoy your...
Read moreEvery time myself, my father (God rest his soul) and now my sister come to this part of Wales ( I'm from Trowbridge Wiltshire, my sister is now (38 years) living in Nash Buckinghamshire. We always have our evening meal at The Rock.... Why you ask? Because Paul and Jane are fabulous as is there food. Last night we both had the 10oz ribeye steak at just £19 each. My fussy sister said it was the best steak cooked to a turn she had ever had. High praise indeed. And although it's 1 to 4 visits per year Jane always remembers us (dad and I) and come over to chat... One Friday we were in we ate our meal and dad fancied a pudding, instead of paying for one Jane said "every Friday we put finger food at the bar including desserts so help yourselves to that" you can't beat free food. Thank you Paul and Jane for making our evenings especially 31st may 2019 (The day after dad's birthday) so warming... Thank you 💖 Ps, sorry forgot to take a photo of our Steaks and saute potatoes but here's our...
Read moreFirstly please read the owners disgusting comments on other people's reviews, it says it all.... My partner just rang to book a table for six, she is vegan (easy going, not after anything special at all). Unfortunately the landlord answered the phone. He didn't know what vegan was, when it was politely explained, he asked what she would like, my partner said even just a jacket potatoe or something, his response was to rudely state "your in the wrong pub love". He is well known to be one of the rudest individuals in the area, to be honest I can't wait for him to 'move on' and give us our pub back. (yes I rang him straight back and gave some 'advice' on customer service). We won't be going to the Rock again untill he has left. I recommend the Halfway House, or the crossoakes in oakdale, much nicer. I also cannot believe that this 'person' is the only reform candidate in the area, if he has zero social skills and can't run a business as a publican, what good would he be in...
