The Smiths Arms — Restaurant in Wales

I have been to the Smiths Arms a few times now for meals with friends, family and for special occasions. Glyn and his wife were always so welcoming and would come to your table for a little chat before your meal. However last night was a different story. It's recently been taken over by someone else... A friends food was overcooked, she asked nicely if she could have another one and on both occasions with two different members of staff the food came back and she was told that's the way it should be. So basically she was being forced to eat something she didn't want. She was told she could order another meal but would need to pay for the two, this was then retracted when we spoke to the manager. The manager came to our table and the first thing he said was "who's the one complaining then?" Disgusting attitude from start to finish. He brought the plate of food back to the table and started stabbing at it with a fork and kept asking my friend "is this over cooked? Is it? Is it?" Absolutely gobsmacked at the way he spoke to us all. Needless to say we will never be having our group meals there again. So sad as we loved going there and the food was...

What a hidden gem this is! Highly recommend! Lovely clean venue and nice cosy atmosphere. It was perfect for 8 of our girls to meet up, have a nice meal, a few drinks and a catch up. All of our food was so delicious and there was a mix of all sorts ordered between us including steaks, pie, fish, hunters chicken, curry followed by desserts. Lovely sized portions, quality yummy comfort food for a great price! Staff and locals were lovely and friendly and gave us such a warm welcome. Thankyou so much for having us! My friends and I ate at the Smiths last night . There were 8 of us and can honestly say the food was absolutely awful. Every meal had something wrong with it.Steak was cold,Scampi was overcooked and dry,curry was tasteless, fish was nothing but batter,peas were stone cold and the mixed salad was lettuce leaves and chopped peppers.I don't know how to describe the mushrooms other than dried out fungi. I would not recommend this place...
