First visit here and definitely the last.....i dont know where to begin, no notice board or price visible, had to ask how much the carvery was and then told it was a 3 course meal after i paid, so definitely more advertising needed! On our first course which was tomato soup, no alternative option, the bowls were dirty with remnants of old soup along the edges so had to ask for clean bowls. The soup was like water and lacked taste. The second course the cutlery was dirty so again had to ask for clean. There was a wait for veg and while we were waiting to be served, we couldnt help but notice all the cobwebs hanging from the ceiling above where the meat is served. When we were eventually served the veg was blanched and lacked taste, the best thing about the dinner was the gravy, everything was either under cooked or over cooked, the roast potatoes were so hard. The third course I chose warm apple pie and ice cream to be given cold apple pie and ice cream and when asked the waitress why my apple pie is cold I was told the told the microwave was broke, they could have told me this when i asked for warm when i ordered it. I also noticed that the tables were being cleaned with a hand towel so again lack of hygiene. This place is rated a 5 star hygiene, i really think that needs to be reviewed. The place on entering is not very inviting and is so dated and not clean there at all. Popped in on a Saturday due to steak and chips being served as a special and only 3.99 each. I've got to be honest I wasn't expecting much but the steak was cooked beautifully and soft and the chips were homemade with a side salad. Good portion sizes and tasty!
