We booked a table here as we haven't been here for quite a while and we were not disappointed prompt service all the way and excellent food I had the fish and chips and the other half had hoisin duck pizza for mains and for starters I had the chicken pate and the other half had the soup of the day whitch was spicy cauliflower

The fish had nice thin batter with melt in your mouth cod flakes for fish on the side was some chunky triple cooked chips also lovely and mushy peas and a bowl of what I think is there own home made tartre sauce that was nice and chunky and a creamy flavour not overpowering

The other half's pizza came out looking good with a thin base she said it was lush

The chicken pate was plenty a good slab of it and was excellent paired with the caramelised onions and the toasted bread came out crispy but soft and in mouth sized easy to eat sizes

The other half's soup well her answer is it was really nice

Drinks from the pump were also surprisingly good they didn't taste at all like it was mainly fizzy water

For our desert we both had the mini desert and hot drink and we chose the chocolate brownie with chocolate sauce and ice cream this was also delicious

For the hot drink I had the breakfast tea and the other half had early grey all served a set consisting of teapot and milk pot and suger bowl etc also very nice

By this time we were both looking like an up right seal so we got the bill would...

An amazing little find, and highly recommend. Probably the best Sunday lunch I've had in a very long time.

Food, Tri Meat Sunday dinner / Sirloin Beef Sunday Dinner. Side of cauliflower cheese and stuffing: Dinners: it was delicious, every bite. Nothing was done incorrectly. The meat was soft and tender, the beef was cooked perfectly. The roast potato's crunchy, the veg lovely, Yorkshire pudding was airy a good size, stuffing with bacon wrapped around them were delicious. You get a small pot of gravy, which was plenty. We did ask for more, and it came instantly. Mint sauce tasted home made, which I didn't expect. A weirdly odd thing which I loved how was the veg came in a separate dish on the plate, so you could share with someone or chose what you wanted from the fish. I feel this place nailed everything! And for the price, you couldn't ask for me. We paid £54; 2 dinners, 2 sides, and 2 drinks. And considering the size and quality, I would easily pay that again and again.

Service: Polite staff, who all looked incredibly professional. We never waited long for anything, that includes our dinners. We were never rushed and felt we ordered at our own pace.

Atmosphere: Absolutely gorgeous, from the low beam ceiling, to the firepits placed around. There was a lovely couple with a baby in a high seat, and I felt the atmosphere was so relaxed and call.

Bravo to the staff, chefs and owner for making an...

Came here early on a Saturday evening greeted well by the staff, sat down and ordered our food I ordered the hunters chicken and my partner ordered the dirty burger.

Before I start this review I would like to start it by saying the previous times we have been here the food has always been great, unfortunately tonight was not the case. My partner's burger and her onion rings come over colder than Lapland in January. My chips where cold, the waiter brought the wrong food to us then returned with ours five minutes later which I suggested maybe they got the orders wrong and the extractor fan was broke, to which the waiter chuckled and walked off. Food was terrible. The waiter then walked up to us and asked would we like to see the dessert menu ? To which I replied definitely not. The waiter just walked off. 10 minutes went by and I asked for the bill the waiter brought the bill over nothing said, I paid for the food. No words said by the waitress no offering of the manager. Please restraunt owners do not reply saying if we said something at the time we could of offered a discount we wasn't looking for a discount we just want to warn people off coming here for an evening meal, to put it bluntly if I paid for it as a 2 for £8 on a Wednesday afternoon I wouldn't be complaining but our meal cost £35 for two mains each and a pint and this was at 1730 on a Saturday evening the restaurant wasn't rushed...

Nice looking pub, nice inside. My partner tried to order a cocktail when we arrived only to be told 'we don't do that' when asked what did he mean he response was 'we don't do that'. No explanation as to why not just very blunt. Left my partner feeling stupid as if she asked for something out of the ordinary. If you don't do it then get it off the menu! Very rude! The chicken pie was all puff pastry barely any filling. I ordered the hunters chicken schnitzel which tasted nice to be fair but the meal overall was small in size for the price had to order a side salad to go with it as it came with literally 2 leaves. The mains were a little bit overpriced for what they were especially the schnitzel at nearly £16 and came with a few chips. I was going to order the curry but I seen it was £17 which is unbelievable for chicken curry and rice!! The desserts were really nice though. I wouldn't come here again as I don't believe it's good value for your money. We came as a group of 6 but for my partner an myself our food came to £80. She had 2 cocktails 2 for £12 I had water. No starters. 2 mains and a dessert each, banoffee pie and a modern take on a black forest gateaux which was brilliant i loved that. And a garlic bread which is not on the menu.

The Traveller’s Rest, Thornhill - 5 Stars We absolutely love The Traveller’s Rest in Thornhill! Every visit has been fantastic, and our latest experience was no exception. The atmosphere is cosy and inviting, with warm log fires and even blankets to make you feel right at home. The whole place is spotless, including the restrooms, and they’re dog-friendly too—our pup was delighted with the treats and water provided! Accessibility is well thought out here, with an easy entrance and plenty of accessible seating. The car park is spacious and conveniently close to the entrance, making it easy to get in and settled. For food, we ordered the Buttermilk Chicken Burger, Pie of the Day (ham hock in a cheesy sauce), and a kids’ meal with chicken nuggets, jelly, and ice cream, plus coffees—all of which were excellent! The kids were entertained with colouring sheets, which was a nice touch. The staff truly make this place stand out; they’re super friendly, attentive, and genuinely kind. Nothing was too much effort for them, which made our experience all the more enjoyable. We always have the best time here and highly recommend a visit!
