We booked a table for 4 adults and 2 children for Sunday lunch on the 1st December 2024. We received a very warm welcome from bar staff as we walked in, the roaring fire place, with its christmas decorations adorning it, looked so cosy and we were invited straight to our table, even though we were a little early. The Sunday lunch was outstanding. Perfectly cooked Turkey, plenty of veg and loads of gravy. We like a lot of gravy on our roster dinners, and the plates came out with gravy already on the food and 3 large white ceramic jugs for us to share. We usually ask in other places for extra gravy - not here - its already given. The children received selection boxes which was a lovely, thoughtful touch. My neice, who is 8, can be a bit of a fussy eater. The lady who took our orders was very patient while my sister asked if it was possible for her to have certain veg and her plate came out as asked. My partner is vegetarian and he said his nut roast was gorgeous. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff. The hospitality was outstanding, the ambience of the room was spot on and very festive and as for value for money - you can't beat it. I would highly recommend a visit to...
Read moreBooked a lunchtime table to celebrate my parents 60th wedding anniversary. The table was booked based on the only restaurant menu that is available online. On arriving at the venue we were given a totally different and sub standard menu offering meals such as burger and chips or sausage and mash which are not fit for a celebratory lunch. On complaining we were told that the menu I had seen online was for evening only. Even tho the waiter confirmed to us that all the ingredients to make the food on the evening menu were available and there were only 2 other small tables eating at the restaurant they refused to try and accommodate our needs and refused to offer even a small selection off the menu. The waiters were both very aloof and uninterested in trying to help remedy the misunderstanding. If it wasn’t for the Diplomat Hotel coming up trumps and saving the situation at last minute my parents anniversary would have...

It was certainly very tasty!
Last Sunday we headed over to @thewaunwyllt for their Roast. The venue is beautiful and the staff friendly and very helpful.
We had: 🦃 Roast Turkey Crown 🥩 Slow Cooked Silverside of Beef 🫛 A Portion of Vegetables 🧀 Cauliflower Cheese
The food was absolutley gorgeous with the meat on both plates falling apart, they were so tender. The vegetables were creamy and the roasties & parsnips seasoned to perfection.
I will say I felt the vegetable portion was quite small between the two of us, and the cauliflower cheese could be cheesier (but that’s our preference and didn’t take away from the fact that the food was so delicious!) Plus we didn’t opt for starters, which we saw were very generous, so worked out maybe the main isn’t as sumptuous!
Would definitely return here, and is beautiful for food...
