Absolutely Appalling Meal with Zero Customer Service.

Called here for lunch today with my partner and ordered Gammon, Chips with Egg & Pineapple and a Soyachunk Vegan Sunday lunch.

We asked that there were no grilled tomatoes or onion rings with the gammon meal, but this was ignored.

However, having waited over 35 minutes, the meals arrived and the waitress said 'one gammon and one chicken Sunday lunch'. I replied it was supposed to be the vegan chunk, so she took it away to check, only to bring it back and say it was actually the vegan meal!

This consisted of a pile of what looked like boiled chicken with some gelatinous globby gravy poured on top, with some roast potatoes. I actually struggled trying to cut a piece of soya and I took one bite and tasted as it looked.... like boiled chunks of tasteless rubber.

I pushed all of this to one side and just ate the potatoes and the side of over cooked carrots and cabbage.

The waitress returned and asked how the meal was and I actually said it was disgusting and repeatedly tried to cut the soya so she could see how tough and rubbery it was. There was no apology at all, she just said 'let me take it away for you' and removed the plate. There was no offer of an alternative meal so I was left there with nothing to eat while my partner finished his meal.

When the bill arrived, the soya meal had not been included, which I would have refused to pay for anyway, and when I actually paid at the bar, there was still no apology or even an acknowledgement that the food was so bad it had to be taken away.

Their attitude was absolutely appalling. They completely dismissed the whole incident as if everything was wonderful. I've never experienced such bad customer service ever before! Complete and utter denial of the situation which ultimately shows complete contempt for their customer!

Needless to say we will never eat...

Booked Sunday lunch carvery several weeks in advance for an office get together. Was called a couple weeks before and told carvery no longer available and we must pre-order from festive menu. Not happy but too late to start looking for something else. All the girls were smiley and friendly but the service was appallingly slow- had to ask multiple times for each course- not that busy so can’t understand why kitchen was so slow. Starter was fine. While waiting for mains, we popped outside and when we returned we saw every other diner had a Sunday roast! I asked the waitress and she said they thought it was odd- we were the only ones having the festive menu. I told her about the phone call and they asked for details so they could investigate who called me. The mains were poor- steaks were ok but served with Sunday roast sides- sprouts, carrots, cabbage and roast potatoes! All of us pretty disappointed. After asking 3 times for dessert, they arrived- tiny slices of shop cheesecake with strawberry sauce for icecream. Choc fudge cake was fine. Eton mess consisted of a tall glass of whipped cream with a half of a meringue nest stuck in top and 1 strawberry!!!! We refused them. By this time we’d had enough! They took the desserts off the bill but we still paid more than the Sunday roast that we booked for. Festive menu was simply the same menu with minor tweaks, more expensive. One of the girls insisted that the manager would call me the next day- it is now 2 days later and still no call so leaving this review as they have made no effort to contact me. Over 3 hours for 3 courses of , on the whole, very poor food- won’t be returning and let all our...

We had a family get together and had Sunday dinner. Although I had booked for 7 we had to ask for a 7th setting/chair to be added. We all got there by 1.30 and ordered starters and mains. Starters were finished but at 2.30 we had to ask about our mains which quickly arrived. Two of us ordered pork with crackling, but neither had crackling and when we enquired we were told none was available. I have to say my beef dinner was really lovely and we all enjoyed the mains. Only 2 of us ordered desserts. My sticky toffee pudding was neither sticky or a toffee pudding, more like a dried up version of a chocolate brownie and wasn't very nice. The other dessert said it was an apple crumble with berries but no berries. She also had a tiny pot of custard. When we enquired we were told there weren't any berries left! So no crackling or berries (this was for the same person so she wasn't happy). If it is advertised and none available, surely the waitress should inform you as you place your order? The waitresses were very pleasant but had no knowledge of items on the menu and were extremely inexperienced. There didn't seem to be anyone working there who was over-seeing all the youngsters. So lovely starters and mains (except the crackling issue) but desserts were poor. I would have given 5 stars for the food had the...

Christmas meal. Was lovely. But lacking some of the stable components that make a roast dinner. We had meat and 3 roasts on our plate, and a Yorkshire pudding if you had beef... and stuffing if you had turkey... we was brought out a sharing platter of sprouts, broccoli and carrots. I feel as it was a brains pub and people tend to expect wholesome foods at these kind of pubs. That they was missing the market here. Food that was missing, but if was offered to us, would have raised the ratings on this review : like peas, mash potatoes, Yorkshire puddings for the turkey eaters and roasted parsnips would have been nice too. 😁 But overall what food we did have was cooked and seasoned well. Tasted good. The puddings and starters was lovely too. Out of 16 of us, no one had a bad word to say about the food, and all said they enjoyed. Thanks. Not sure would go again for Christmas meal. But have been many a time for an everyday menu meal and that is lovely and as expected. 😁

A nice enough pub with lots of parking at the rear. decor was pleasant and homely. my 3 course meal on a sunday was very nice. when we placed the order earlier in the week we were told there was no carvery so we opted for the steak instead. the steak and vegetables were delicious however the tables around us had a regular sunday carvery? so dont know what happened there. special mention for the steak, parsnips and the mushrooms - all were delicious.
