December 30th 2014.
Got there for lunch with my family at about 1pm. I asked if there was a table for 4 & a child seat available. After a while the lad behind the bar was not sure. My daughter, in the meantime, went and found a table for us herself. Having found a table I attemptend to get a round in. The lad behind the bar was serving drinks and taking orders for meals on his own. Therefore it was fully 15 minutes before I join my family at the table.
Having settled down and chosen our meals from the menue it took another 15 minutes to order at the bar. The lads was still on his own serving drinks & taking orders for meals.
The kitchen staff were buzzing around serving the meals to other costomers, really working their socks off, along with the poor lads at the bar.
During our meal my 18 mouth old grandson needed some water, I got up to go to the bar, AGAIN RAMMED with people trying to get served by the lonely barman. A further 15-20 mins later I returned to my table with the bottle of water for my grandson.
The meals were very good indeed both our main & desIert.
BUT, IN MY OPINION, THE ESTSTABLISHMENT IS GROSSLY UNDERMANED, WHICH DISTRACTS FROM THE GOOD FOOD YOU SERVE.
I don't think I was the only one who had compaints about the serves. I heard one gentleman complain about how long he had to wait at the bar, also a lady with her elderly mother cancelled their order as they had waited over 40 minutes for their food.
I realise that 1pm is a busy time and I should expect some delays at the bar on the serving of food. I understand that. BUT SO SHOULD YOU, AS MANAGER/MANAGERESS OF YOUR BUSSINESS.
So I would sugest that your manpower be increased and the people at the sharpe end be given help they deserve. Your staff are hard working people doing a great job. Please help them to help you make a better impression of your bussiness.
Hopfully you will take note of your customers. If not, we will look else where. It's a pity because we love the food, but your staffing level have to change...
Read moreJust come home from the breakfast with santa morning and I can't believe how awful this experience was. Upon booking there is nothing to say what the breakfast is, so the assumption would be the normal sizzling menu. They only did a standard English breakfast. This isn't an issue but just a pain to not be told what to expect. You also need to put the ages of the children, chair and dietary requirements. As myself and my friend have a 11 month old and 2 year old, high chairs were needed. No highchairs offered and when we were seated we were told "there may not be anymore available" after 10 minutes, we had to ask again and find the chairs which were then brought over. Almost half hour until our food and drink orders were taken, by this time, every table bar us and one next to us had got their drinks. Finally ordered our drinks and food. Bare in mind that we had already prepaid for 4 breakfasts, we got asked if the kids were sharing.. no, we have already paid. So we confirmed our breakfast orders -the 2 year old has a severe dairy allergy (put on the booking form and reiterated to the waitress) and 11m - no bacon (just due to choking risks).
Drinks didn't arrive for another 40 minutes after having asked twice for them at this point. Asked for straws for the kids, none given "we don't have any" which is a bit strange for a pub but hey ho!
Breakfast arrived an hour later but only three. When asked, I got told they hadn't made the 11m old breakfast. Despite having that conversation that she would have one. One adult breakfast came with no meat (just asked for no sausage) and the 2 year old had butter given. At least it was a packet ao we didn't put it on her toast. Just not fair for her to expect something and not have it. Furthermore, the gift from santa was chocolate, which unfortunately the 2 year old could not have. This is disappointing as we did state on the booking form of the allergy.
Santa was absolutely lovely and great with the kids, the only positive element...
Read moreWe attended here as a party of 24 on Saturday 4th July 2015 for a 70th birthday party. This was pre-planned with the pub a month in advance, so there was no excuse for the terrible service we received. Firstly we waited over an hour for 8 starters to come out, 4 people could not have what they pre-ordered as they'd sold out, 2 other starters of potato skins were uncooked and basically raw potato's ! We waited over an hour after the starters for the main meals to come out. 5 people chose steak, big mistake as the steaks were so full of gristle that they were inedible. 1 meal of sausage, mash and yorkshire & peas - the sausages were not even cooked, the peas were still frozen and the yorkshire had obviously been put into microwave as it was hot as hell and hard as nails. People who ordered the chicken could not eat it as it was so tough, others ordered rib & chicken combo and were just brought out ribs. A chicken salad did not have salad, and 2 chicken tikka's were like watery gravy. As a family we have eaten at this pub hundreds of times and the service and food has always been 1st class. I am told however that the people running it for the last few years have now left and the pub has been sold to a different brewery. If this is how it is going to be in the future we will all go elsewhere for our family gatherings. I would say the serving staff did their absolute best, but if your giving garbage to serve you can not turn that into caviar ! Absolutely abysmal, and despite us all getting a 25% DISCOUNT OFF THE BILL I REFUSED TO PAY FOR MY MEALS AS THEY WERE SO BAD -...
