This evening was our first visit, a family of 4, 2 adults and a 5 yr old and 6 yr old. As a family dining out this venue did not disappoint, from the moment we pulled up in a very generous car park and saw the views we were already very impressed. We were greeted at the entrance by a lovely member of staff who promptly showed us to our table (booked in advance) with a smile and welcoming attitude, she explained the menu to us and left us to get comfortable. We ordered all our food without any issue at the bar again by a very friendly member of the team who was very patient and prompt. No waiting at all. All our mains arrived together and were beautifully presented. They were quick to arrive, within 20 minutes ( much to our daughters disappointment, they wanted to play in the park) and the food served was absolutely beautiful. I had the ribeye steak, partner had burger and children had fish goujons. The meals were a really good size and filled us all nicely. We were left alone while eating our food which I really like. There's nothing worse than someone coming and asking if everything is OK with your meal when you have your mouth full. There were staff around if I felt the need to raise a concern. The meals were all hot and eaten by everyone with no complaints. I requested another side of peppercorn sauce because the sauce is hands down the nicest peppercorn sauce I have ever tasted and was enjoyed by all of us dipping. The extra sauce was delivered within 5 minutes of ordering without any complaint or frustration. The dessert was delivered within the same speed as the mains and again, the standard was something else, my partner had the chocolate dome which is definitely worth visiting again for! All in all a really good experience, the nicest food we've ever had eating out as a family, really nice friendly atmosphere and those views! 😍. The staff never stopped, they were all so busy, it seems to be a really popular place and I can see why. The staff were friendly, attentive and had time for a chat, I apologise the only name I really remember is Leyon I think, he was amazing, everytime we went to the bar to order he would instantly stop doing what he was doing and be there to serve, ensuring there was no waiting around. All of the staff were friendly to our children and even came looking for us to give my daughter a teddy that she had left behind. There were games available at the entrance to keep children entertained (not that they had time to get bored with service being so quick!) Even binoculars that gave my girls great pleasure in using to see Over to Cardiff bay. We were definitely be back, we were made to feel really welcome and feel like we ate some real good quality food tonight. Thank you all for making our first visit such a pleasant experience. Just to touch on a review left earlier by someone who states that anyone leaving a good review probably grew up with a mother who couldn't cook I'd like to confirm that my mum was an amazing cook, but I think she would agree that this place is completely different level of good food.

A modern country pub that's clean and off the beaten track. The beer garden is manicured with a lovely view and is very large but without any shade even with parasols up. Inside is pleasantly decorated with nice furnishings. There the nice stuff ends. We went in tuesday & it was practically empty. We ordered 2 cold meals and 1 hot. Despite ordering, customers that arrived after us at various tables were served hot meals 1st. Only part of meals came out & we had 2 wait further 25 mins before rest came (we asked 4 times & other people still kept being served). Part of meal we did have went cold in meantime. Staff were chatting in corner despite all of this. Duty manager walked off when my partner stated he was unhappy with what was happening. Did not give me anything to cut food with even though I asked. I was starting to feel qweasy with lack of food & all the Windows were shut with no air con in building. It was 30 degree heat and the hottest day of year 2 date. We stayed polite throughout this all. We did not sit outside as with no shade we would have been badly burnt and thought it would be cooler inside. After about 10 mins of further waiting the items came out. And she gave us 25 % percent back of the meal without us asking for anything like that. I stated it was very hot to another staff member who arrived and I asked about the Windows or if there was aircon. The only response was for her to agree it was hot. I stated to the duty manager that there was a large piece of plastic on my food (A child could have chocked). She took it away and quietly apologised. By now Im sweating profusely with the heat and I am feeling worse. The que at bar is so long I am unable 2 obtain water & no one came back 2 check on us. I had to get outside. My partner complained again and duty manager only offered to do something properly when he pointed 2 the social media advert for pub saying he was going to leave a review. Staff member did not even offer me water until he had complained twice about how I felt. I was shaking. Appalling. Duty manager did not have a clue how to deal with situation. This is cut down version of what happened as review was 2 long 4 Google.

The location of this restaurant is lovely. We visited on a Saturday night which we appreciate can be busy, even taking that into account the wait time for the food seemed excessive. The salmon whilst looking over cooked was in fact ok, as were the two and a half prawns that came with it. When meal came we had to ask for our cutlery. The food looked like it had been just thrown onto the plate. The grilled lemon, kale, green beans and mangetout were all missing. When asked about this we were brought a bowl with green veg. With a price of over ÂŁ20 for this one meal, I think a bit more care should have been taken to ensure it matched its description of content. And cutlery an absolute must.

I had a 30% off voucher. Even with that incentive I wish we had gone to a burger van. We sat and waited about 20 mins before anyone acknowledged we were waiting to be served. The female server had zero personality. There was no welcome whatsoever. It seemed too much trouble for her to take our order. We waited for 30 mins for our food to arrive. The server did not explain that there would be a wait. The food was a joke. The fries tasted like they were oven cooked. There were about 12 of them. The coleslaw was served in a bowl the size of an egg cup. The burger was small and gave the appearance of being thrown together. I'm sure it was frozen and not fresh. My partner's Sunday roast was a joke. We had to ask for more gravy because it was so dry. It didn't look appetising or appealing to the eye and it tasted poor. No one approached us to ask if everything was satisfactory. At the end of the meal, it took quite a while to get the attention of a server. When our bill was presented, the server then walked off! We then had to get the attention of another server to take the cash. He walked off with the cash and we then waited 10 minutes for the change! There was no "I hope you enjoyed your meal and we look forward to seeing you again" You get better service in McDonalds. I felt sorry for the table of 10 sat adjacent to us. I hate to think what their bill was for a substandard meal. I can only suggest that if anyone gives this place 5 stars they were probably brought up by parents who couldn't cook. Even if I was sent a 75% off voucher, I wont return. A complete and utter waste of ÂŁ34 (after 30% discount) ... I am pretty sure I'd get a better meal from a burger van (not that I've been to one). I will not be returning and doubt that the management will care because the place was jammed. If anyone wants to reach out to me, send me YOUR name, email address and a ref and I will send you my telephone number

I have had a response. As I expected, the response was a 'couldn't care less' attitude. Don't worry Team, I won't be wasting any more of my money in your establishment, I'd rather suffer a McDonalds fayre than the food and service you presented. Thank you for confirming that there were other complaints that Sunday. That made me feel that my comments were warranted.

  • UPDATE * The dismissive response from the business says it all. The grammar is to be applauded too. If, as is claimed, it was the servers first shift, they should have been shadowed by an experienced member of staff until they demonstrated they could provide customer service to the required standard. Why didn't an experienced server take payment and at the same time ask me what I thought of the service? It's because the business doesn't care. Something good has come out of this experience though. When we drive past, neither of us look at each other and say "do you fancy a glass of wine and a...

I attended with my partner yesterday for dinner. Things did not go as planned. It turned out he was planning to propose and had visited twice before and spoken with staff, who he asked to direct us outside to wait for our table so he could ask the question. The manager seemed familiar with our booking name and took us straight to our table and all our family and friends who were hiding near the toilets to surprise us after. I was proposed to outside the toilets semi publicly, which was really uncomfortable and my now fiance was upset, because he'd spent a month planning it and it was a simple but nice plan. Neither of us had an apology for it from the manager who proceeded to hide out the back of house. We later spoke to the staff member who had planned things with my fiance and she apologised several times and even said she had left specific written instructions (thank you for everything you did for my partner). The manager did not reappear.

In terms of food, some of us had our meals in half an hour and others waited an additional 20 minutes on top of that. Desserts took an incredibly long time. Steaks were all overcooked, however only one of us sent their food back because at that point the rest of us were still incredibly disappointed and wanted the experience to be over. Vegetables were all clearly frozen despite the cost of the menu and there were no drinks prices at the table.

I probably would have left a higher rating had the manager come and spoken to us as a couple and apologised; but the fact he blatantly didn't bother to say anything about the ruined toilet area proposal that was meant to be outside in front of a lovely view really says everything about his sincerity. We only get one engagement and we'll never have that experience back.

I'm additionally editing this review in light of the venue's response. Family and friends were due to arrive between 11-11.30 and us as a couple at midday. We got to the doors at 11.57. The fact that no accountability is being taken further cements in my eyes the complete lack of sincerity that management have towards their guests. They even confirmed the 12pm time to our families when they raised this issue. How you can so blatantly lie to avoid taking responsibility for your own actions shocks me. The level of gaslighting here...
