After hearing glowing reviews, I finally visited Cinnamon Court in Willenhall for a proper sit-down meal with friends — and wow, did they deliver. From the pre-starters right through to the mains and sides, it was a full-on flavour journey. Here’s a breakdown of what we had and how it stacked up:
Pre-Starter
Papadams with Dips A classic start, but surprisingly good. The papadams were light, crisp, and not at all greasy — fresh out of the fryer, you could tell. What stood out most were the dips: the mango chutney was sweet and vibrant, the onion salad had a good crunch, and the mint yogurt was refreshingly cool. Not just filler — this genuinely set the tone.
Starters We went big on variety here, so I’ll go one by one:
Chicken Tikka Soft, juicy, and well-marinated — the chicken had soaked up all that smoky tandoori flavour without being dry. Served sizzling, with just a touch of char on the edges. Could’ve eaten a plate of this alone.
Sheek Kebab Lean, well-spiced, and with that punch of green chilli and coriander you want from a good sheek. Moist but firm — no dry crumbles here. It had real depth.
Onion Bhaji Crisp on the outside, soft on the inside — the texture was spot on. Not greasy, not heavy. It tasted freshly made, with a hint of cumin and coriander seed throughout.
Fish Pakora Surprisingly delicate! The batter was light and golden, and the fish inside was flaky and subtly spiced. Definitely not the heavy, chewy chunks you sometimes get elsewhere. A highlight if you like seafood.
Vegetarian Starter Platter Now this was a treat for variety-lovers. Standouts included:
Vegetable Samosa: Crispy pastry, well-spiced filling. Classic, done right.
Cauliflower Pakora: Cauliflower had a slight bite (not mushy), and the batter was crisp with a bit of heat. Really addictive.
Paneer Roll: This was a surprise winner — warm, soft paneer wrapped in a flaky pastry shell, lightly spiced and paired with a tangy chutney. Would happily order a plate just of these next time.
Main Courses
Chicken Karahi Bold and aromatic — you could smell the ginger and garlic before it hit the table. The sauce was thick, slightly tangy with tomatoes, and clung beautifully to the tender chicken. It had that “just made” freshness you can taste.
Lamb Karahi Even better than the chicken, to be honest. The lamb was soft, slow-cooked, and packed with flavour. Rich, deep spices without being overwhelming. A bit of a star dish.
Vegetable Bhuna Surprisingly satisfying. The vegetables still had texture — not overcooked — and the bhuna sauce was rich and thick with just the right touch of heat. Great for mopping up with naan.
Tarka Daal Comforting, creamy, and full of smoky garlic flavour. The texture was smooth but not too thin, and it worked beautifully alongside the spicier mains. I’d call this a must-order if you like lentils.
On the Side
Pilau Rice Fluffy, fragrant, and not at all oily. Each grain stayed separate — no clumps. Subtle saffron aroma without overpowering the rest of the meal.
Naan Breads We tried a few — plain and garlic. Both were excellent: soft, slightly chewy, with those perfect crisp bubbles on the surface. The garlic naan had real garlic (not just essence) and was brushed generously with butter.
Final Verdict Cinnamon Court delivered one of the most balanced, satisfying Indian meals I’ve had locally in a long time. No dish felt rushed or bland — everything had care and flavour behind it. Highlights for me were the paneer roll, lamb karahi, and the tarka daal, but honestly, there wasn’t a single weak link in the lineup.
Service was smooth and friendly, timing between courses was just right, and the setting was relaxed but refined.

Read moreWe don't usually write reviews but today I feel strongly enough that I need to.
We went for Christmas Dinner- the set menu. Before the actual incident that I'm about the write about happened, there were things we could have complained about but didnt: 1) our waiter recommended the salmon but when it came, it was over cooked/dry as if it had been sitting for a long time, 2) for 2 years they advertise a range of desserts but when you get there, they tell you they haven't got half the advertised desserts, Today what happened was terrible - and on Christmas day!
They served up the main meal then after a while, they came back to ask if everything was OK. If I had known that they didn't really mean it, I would have given the standard 'yes thank you.' Instead, I said 'it's a bit cold.' Bad move!!!! They questioned me as if I had just said the worse thing possible. I said that they could take a spoon and try for themselves but they said they would change it/warm it up (don't know which after all the confusion). Another gentleman came over (a chubby round man with a beard) and he was deeply offended. He told me that they had served it to 'hundreds before me and no one had said it was cold.' He went on to say that he 'was struggling to see how I can say it's cold.' Again, I suggested that he try what I had sent back to the kitchen but he didn't want to do that. He preferred to argue. I suddenly remembered that he was the same guy who argued with me last year after I was charged for a cup of tea that was stated on the menu as free - he argued that I had the tea to begin and not at the end! Today, I had had enough of his poor service. All he had to do was taste the food and he would had seen how cold everything was! There was no need to confront the customer! He walked off not believing us! We decided we were going too! And we left half way through the meal.
Another really helpful member of staff tried to smooth things over saying it's fine 'they would change the food' but at this point, we had decided that we were not taking the rudeness of the 'part owner ' who previously spoke to us. He was unapologetic and didn't care that we were going. We'll as they say, upset 1 customer and...

Lovely venue, lovely food, good service but £4.50 for a pint of diet coke totally unjustified and totally spoilt the evening. Will not be returning....
Thankyou for your reply. However check your facts first next time ........
I suggest you check the 2018 government's legislation on the taxing on sugary drinks. Firstly the increase was approximately 8p per 330ml for sugary beverages. Secondly there is NO sugar tax on diet coke, diet lemonade, pepsimax or any diet drinks as most don't contain any sugar and any sugary drinks under 5% are also exempt from the tax. So £4.50 is still unjustified, when a 7lt box of post mix diet coke which will make approx 79 pints and at around £65.00 (and no added sugar tax) making around 82p per pint. So even selling at around £2.50 - £3.00 you would still make ample profit. Perhaps a drinks menu with prices in would have been better, then one would be able to make an informed descion...!!!!! Its a shame restaurants feel they have to rip customers off with drinks prices....

Hi Andrew. I'm glad that you Loved the Venue.. Loved the food and found the service to be good.. its a shame that because you thought in your opinion you were paying £1 too much for a pint or coke you would leave us a 1 star review. We're a family run independent restaurant that has been serving the local community for over 20years. We've done our fair share helping the local hospital during Cv19 and supporting the local community.. its a shame that self entitled individuals who believe they're always right would proactively work towards leaving negative reviews despite enjoying the food, venue and service.. as I told your friend on his review the sugar tax imposed by the government have driven up the cost of sugary drinks.. if there is a next time you visit.. don't have a pint of coke and stick to the free tap water that we...
