What a disappointment! Following a promotional Irish Harp Remembrance offer arriving through our door, (limited edition Poppy glass with your drink to keep) my family and I took the opportunity to call in for refreshments following attending the nearby Remembrance Day Parade in Aldridge Sunday 10th November. The venue claims to be supporting our Veterans with events and promotions. My husband is a Veteran and was wearing his medals and Regimental headdress following the parade. On arrival we saw a sign saying that they also welcome Blue Light Card discount. Great! Unfortunately my husband producing his BL card wasn’t enough, the barman insisted that he download the app and obtain the QR code. This proved difficult. We then asked if we could have our drinks in a Poppy glass as per the promotion? Not possible replied the barman, ‘we ran out of those weeks ago’, was the reply. Ok, let’s order drinks then, we may even stay for lunch. The barman then refuses to serve our 21 year old son without ID, (I get that, it’s the law), but talk about making it really difficult to get served. My husband may have been wearing a clown outfit, it would have received the same respect. So it was a swift about turn and off we went refreshment less. Proud to support our Veterans? I think not! We will not be returning to the Irish Harp and my husband will be sure to be very vocal when discussing our experience with the charities and organisations that he is involved with. Shame!

Got there decided to sit outside as it was a lovely day. Loads of empty tables but most still got plates & glasses on from previous customers. We ordered our starter's they came reasonably quick. 35 minutes after we were waiting for our mains. Husband asked one of the ladies who came out to clear tables. She brought them out about 5 minutes later. I had ordered the lasagne served with garlic bread & a dressed side salad. Lovely lasagne but 2 pieces of soggy garlic bread & well I'd call it a garnish not a side salad it hadn't even got a dressing on it. My husband ordered a steak with onions. The onions were cold so he didn't eat them & his steak was chewy. We definitely will not be going there again. We didn't say anything at the time as we needed to be somewhere. The photos are of my so called dressed side salad.

Lovely pub with a great choice of food although quite a few items were not available that evening. Our drinks order was taken within good time but then we waited such a long time for them we were definitely more than ready to order food and gave our order to him. Our waitress was wonderful and really pleasant but had a lot of tables to serve so not as attentive as expected. I have to say the lamb shank was delicious, so very tender and the gravy and mash perfect...would visit again just for this meal! Husband and son's steaks were sightly overdone to how they wanted them so consider that if you order steaks. Puddings were delicious but again not everything on menu available even though we booked an early table. All the food was well presented. Overall, an enjoyable evening meal.

If i could give minus stars i would but i had no choice but to put 1 star! Absolutely terrible experience here today and I would NOT recommend this place. Arrived and got seated and ordered our drinks and when the drinks arrived the pepsi max was flat and the glass was filthy and had a lipstick stain on the glass, I asked the lady who served the drink if i could have another glass which she kindly did no trouble however i then tasted it and it was flat so i went up to the bar and asked another lady there if she could change it for me and she did, however it was still flat but i just left it and carried on to order food, some cutlery was dirty however not all, but we had spare on the table so we just planned on using them, the food arrived the portion sizes were shocking, mash potato on one of the meals was cold considering the prices charged the sizes are shocking and nothing special , the burger buns were stone cold, i let the waiter know this and i stated the bacon was missing from the burger, he said "its there under the cheese" which it was but it was the smallest piece of bacon we was shocked and he grabbed the plate back and said with such attitude " well ill go change it" then walked off whilst saying "oh my god" loud and with such disrespect and attitude. we all stated that we are not happy with the service, the way he was speaking to us and especially myself and that we will pay for our drinks and we are leaving, so we asked one of the waiters if we could speak to the manager, and low and behold the man who gave us such disrespect and attitude came over and stated "how can i help you" we told him our issues and he said he felt attacked by us and thats why he attacked back and went on to say "ive dealt with rough people before ill be fine" whilst verbally attacking my self especially then went on to verbally attack another member of our table as they were sticking up for myself by stating how the "manager" is speaking to me is disgusting. We went over to the other lady who was also a manager to pay the bill for the drinks who can i just say was lovely and kind and was polite, however whilst telling her what had happened the man came between and said "it is irrelevant what your saying as it is not true lovey" she apologized and was telling the other "manager" to leave it and she is really sorry this has happened, bare in mind she is restraining the "manager" across the front of his body and as he was holding onto the card machine she also had a hold of the card machine asin she didnt trust his next actions. Aswell as myself he was also showing an aggressive and threatening body language towards another member of our table. So 3 out of 4 people of our table were disrespected by this "manager" The lady manager also stated something along the lines of "dont do this again" to the other "manager" which to us indicated something like this has possibly happened before. The lack of disrespect from someone who was supposed to be one of the managers was appalling. We planned to have a good evening, have a meal, have a few drinks and even desserts, but from the moment we ordered our drinks it was a complete let down. Thank you to the ladies who did help us and speak to us and was kind and made us feel welcome we appreciate you. But overall I would unfortunately not...

I made a booking for a baby shower with John who communicated quickly at first but then I had to visit to confirm final details with Leanne who called me back efficiently. I didn't receive any email with confirmation of buffet or prices, only verbal. Requested buffet was for a selection of plain sandwiches on brown and white bread, fillings chosen were cheese, ham, chicken & egg mayo for 30 people with chips as sides. On arrival we had a room reserved and tables for buffet & cakes to go on. There was no covering on the tables, I had brought a tablecloth that was used, there were no napkins supplied, again I had got some with me that we used. The plates for the food were brought out after the food? There were no forks to use to eat the chips? Presentation of the sandwiches was very poor - different platters and boards - no garnish at all or crisps etc. No condiments were offered - salt, pepper, sauces or mustard? No-one asked if everything was ok? I was advised to ask if we needed more of anything - I did request more chips as we only had 2 (shallow) bowls for 30 people? No-one helped to clear up once food was distributed amongst guests - we did this ourselves. None of the drinks glasses or cups and saucers were cleared either. When I requested a knife to cut our cake I was given a steak knife, told this is all that was available. There was a sign on the bar to help yourself to water but there was none available? Total cost was £305.50. I feel that this was way too much for what we received especially given the lack of customer service. Our guests all enjoyed the baby shower but I do feel that the food was very disappointing - I did mention this when settling the bill with Emily - I was informed we had the bill reduced by a couple of pounds and that comments would be passed on. I am more than happy to discuss as I feel that the 30 people who attended won't be in any rush to...

We used to be regulars here years ago. They new us by name and were always friendly and welcoming. Food was good at reasonable prices. We have had a few birthday parties here too. Then there was a change in staff and it started to lose its atmosphere and service was poor. But last Friday, my Mom in law and myself, decided to give it another go as we wanted to sit outside on this sunny day. First, I was surprised to find a seat, as in the past you had to book to be sure of a place. We sat outside and I went in to order a drink and get menus. There was one young lady behind the bar. She was short with glasses and dark hair,..sorry I should have got her name...anyway she was serving someone else who had a lot of allergy questions, so I waited patiently. I waited and waited but no one else came to serve, so I asked the young lady if anyone else could serve. She looked behind herself and said" does it look like there is anyone else here..?" I thought her manner was very rude. I said..." there are a few staff around can't you ask them to help?" She said,.."they are busy too..you will have to wait! " Her attitude was very unprofessional and I was on the verge of walking out. I caught the eye of another young lady and she was a lot more friendly and stopped what she was doing and served me, which took all of 10 seconds. I was about to pay her with 20 pound for the bottle of wine and for her to keep the change, when she said its £ 25.00p I was shocked as the wine was £5.00 in the shops. I expect a mark up but not 400% Anyway I went outside, and decanted my story to my Mom in law and when we looked at the overpriced menu, we decided, with the one staff members attitude and the prices, we would go elsewhere. It's such a shame what has happened to a pub, that used to be so successful and...
