We've lived local for some time but never visited Spice Inn. This was our first visit and we walked away very pleasantly surprised. First off the restaurant didn't seem to have my booking, but this was quickly resolved by staff once I showed them my booking confirmation. Once settled we saw the great offer of 'Banquet Nights'. Which allows you to have a starter, main with rice or naan and an ice cream. All for £13.95. This seemed great value for money. As a family of three, we opted for the following dishes. Starters: Tandoori Chicken, Sheek Kebab and Shami Kebab. Mains: Butter Chicken, Lamb Saag and North Indian Hot Garlic Chicken Tikka. Desserts: Ice cream x3.
The starters were mediocre, the kebabs (both) were not packed with flavour and the Tandoori chicken was quite bland. The startrs were probably the only disappointing part of the meal. The mains were much more flavoursome, the North Indian Hot Garlic Chicken truly delivered what it says...this was spicy!! 🔥 This was a very tasty dish that packed a punch, The lamb Saag was very nice also. The butter chicken was slightly too sweet for our tasting but still delivered what was expected. Desserts was perfect after the spice provided in mains!!
Overall, a nice cosy local restaurant that offers a Banquet Deal that offers great value. I would return for this deal again. Starter, Main and Dessert all for £13.95 --- BARGAIN!!!
TIP: you can take your own alcohol as the restaurant does not...
Read moreBack in my 'day' (the late 80's, 90's and early 2k), Blackwood Rd had the usual town/village shops. Walks to school including a stop at Taylors News for sweets, chippy tea, hair cut, pharmaceutical support...
Roll on 30 years later, and something that could have come a lot lot sooner (when I was walking the streets, on my way home after a night out at the local public houses when turning '18' in the late 90's) there is a restaurant. An indian restaurant.
Visiting parents, as now live in Lincolnshire, and they took me here...
Service; fantastic, very personal, great conversation. Location; 'hidden' away, and parking could be an issue if early doors. Drinks; unlicensed, so BYOB. Wine for me. Food; when 'testing' an Indian restaurant I will always go with the chefs/restaurants 'own' Jalfrazi. If its good, I know the rest of the menu will be good. Lots of experience here 😉. No complaints from parents, nor myself. Price; absolutely spot on for portion size.
Lamb Tikka Sylheti Jalfrazi. Not over powered with chilli, just a nice warmth on the back of the tongue, perfection. As well as the starters, all was beautiful.
Highly recommended, and parents say take out/delivery is spot on too. Those that kits me, you know I like my curry. If i say its good,...
Read moreHad a meal here on Sunday 28th May. My first time here and I was pleasantly surprised how amazing the food was. After hearing varied reports I thought I would try it out for myself. I had lamb chops to start and they are the best lamb chops I've had in a very long time. I then had the chicken tikka naga and that was so tasty and hot which I expected it to be hot. I even treated myself to the mint madness pudding which finished off my meal brilliantly. My other half had mix kebab to start and he had north Indian garlic chilli chicken as his main which was lovely as I had to try. Overall my first experience was excellent and we look forward to going back and next time I'm having the lamb chops as a main I enjoyed them so much. Thanks to all the lovely staff who...
