I have been using this pub for years. However yesterday afternoon I was extremely disappointed with the lack of professionalism one member of staff showed. I booked a table for 5 oclock to meet up with 2 of my friends for drinks and food. When we arrived we were told to wait and someone will be with us. There was no queue, and we were made to wait a further 5 mins whilst we were being ignored, with the same member of staff having a chat behind us. Once we were seated and hours went buy. The same member of staff approached us and said we had 10 mins to leave the table. I questioned why as i had booked a table and was greeted with a very short and straight answer of its only for a 2 hour slot. This was my mistake as i did not realise this was the case. However the pub was not busy and there were many more free tables. We also mentioned we had ordered food so would need to stay abit longer. And we recieved a similar yet sarcastic response of shock that we ordered food "knowing" our slot was finishing. He then went on to say we can have an extra 30 mins so we can eat our food. However being watched to make sure we were infact "getting a move on" This same member of staff who seemed very strict about the rules was more than happy to greet someother ladies who decided they wernt wearing masks to the pub. But he was more than happy to speak with them with no mentioning that their masks should be worn.
Overall very dissapointed, the member of staff was very rude and I will be using another pub in the future. As well as making sure all my family and friends do the same. I would not like anyone to be treated the same...
Read moreWe were celebrating our 31st wedding anniversary and decided to try this venue. I booked in advance and asked for a table with plenty of leg room for 3 6ft 5 men,the table was just what I wanted. We found the pub had a very and relaxed atmosphere, great decor and dog friendly. The bar staff were friendly and helpful and made sure they I'D our son although he's 22. The menu was very appetising, had something for everyone and reasonably priced especially in this current climate. We ordered the haddock and chips, a mixed grill, the gammon with chips and eggs, the stuffed mushrooms and sides of onion rings and Mediterranean veg and the Belgium waffles. The food was cooked well and very tasty, moorish and great presentation, there was plenty of choice drinks wise too. I liked that we were asked when ordering food if we had any dietary requirements or allergies. We were served by a lovely young man named Danny, he had a wonderful personality and was very attentive to our dining experience. He was extremely polite and smartly dressed, when he wasn't serving he was constantly tidying up making sure tables were ready for other diners. Danny made our evening very enjoyable and he is a great asset to The Quesslett team and Ember Inns. I can say my husband, myself and our 2 sons will definitely be returning and would recommend the pub to others. Sadly I have no pictures of our visit or meals because I wanted quality time with my family. We were all enjoying our meals so much and I didn't want to spoil our night by keep photographing them. when I return...which will be soon, I will take lots...
Read moreThis pub used to be a joy to go to when Ramone was running it but now it's far from it.Seems like all the rif raf who Ramone kept out have been slowly coming back in. Me and the wife went there about 3 to 4 weeks ago and there was a leak on the roof which was dripping down to the lounge where there was a bucket it wasnt cordened off and kept getting kicked over which is a health and safety issue. We went back two weeks later to find a disco was on the pub was rammed with all new faces and I've never seen so many people in tracksuits dancing ,I'm far from a snob but on a Saturday night it wouldn't take much to iron a pair of jeans. There was a broken glass on the floor and when I asked a member of staff to get it up he said it was to hard as the carpet was sticky I asked him to try harder but he looked at me and walked off. I then walked upto the toilets to see the cubicle door off and a man standing inside the cubicle who then picked up the door and moved it to cover the opening and said don't mind me I just want a line of coke do you want one?I said no and shortly after left. Once a lovely pub is slowly going down hill and it's a real shame as Ramone ran it well so don't think I will be...
