I hate leaving bad reviews but sadly the service we recieved (and were made to pay for) was appalling. Decided to eat here Easter Sunday and it was suprinsingly quiet given the day. Plenty of empty car parking spaces as well as tables. No queue for the bar/carvery etc.
We waited to be seated and then waited a further 20 minutes for the waitress to come back to take our order. Eventually gave up, and went to the bar to order as she still hadn't returned. (Eventually found the waitresses stood at the bar all talking together). Ordered 2 meat cavaries and 1 vegetarian carvary. After an hour my vegetarian carvary still hadn't arrived and I ended up having a plate of potatos and stuffing! The bill came and I had still be charged full price for a "vegetarian meal" of nothing but potatos and stuffing. Upon querying it I was told that it was the "discounted price". I do not call £12.99 for a plate potatos, stuffing and gravy "discounted". In fact I would call it the exact opposite. When stating this I was told by the waitress that I could have gone back up for seconds if I were still hungry? So yet again more potatos and stuffing. I ordered a vegetarian melt, I shouldnt have to fill up on vegetables due to their error.
I was told that there was a lack of communication between the waitresses, bar staff, carvary staff and kitchen staff which meant my order had not been put in, but apparantly I still had my moneys worth and was charged £12.99.
As we were about to leave, the manager came over and appologised and was told that when our waitress came over to take our orders she didn't put the order in? However, we informed him that we never had a waitress at all until our plates were cleared and no body had bothered to come and take our orders we had to serve ourselves for both food and drink. Safe to say, we won't be going back to this restraurant.
The black mould all over the curtains and windowsils at our table, along with the massive hole in the cieling and cracks along the wall just shows the level of detail and cleanliness too.
The table next to us was also dirty when we arrived and there were clean cutlery just placed on the chairs. We eventually watched the waitress clear the table, then take clean cutlery off a dirty chair and place it on the table to eat. Maybe I was trained differently or expect a certain level of hygiene, but placing cutlery on a chair that has had people sitting on it and children standing on it, and then place that on the table for people to eat off is certainly not how I was taught to set/wait tables.
Really dissapointed compared to other tobys/restraunts we...
Read moreWe visited today and left quite annoyed actually. We had our table booked for 12:50, as soon as we arrived we were asked what our booking was, then the manager was looking at his screen and said “I’ve only got a table available where there’s steps” and proceeded to show us where the table was, we did have a pushchair with us, but it was fine, we just got on with it. Before we even got to sit down we already had the waitress standing there watching us sit down right next to the table asking to take the drinks order, literally had no time to settle down, which was chaotic with 2 children under 4 - this annoyed me straight away. We then went up to get the food, I went up with my daughter, our younger son stayed at the table with my husband, I’ve asked for 1 kids’ carvery for them to share and just asked the chef for an extra plate so I could split the food between them at the table - I only used 1 plate for all of the kids’ food and left the other one as spare, I then sat down at the table and proceeded to split the food between them. The food itself was ok but roasters were gummy and mac and cheese had no cheese, it was literally just pasta. As we asked for our bill, we’ve received it but got charged for 2 kids’ carveries, so I pointed it out to the girl who served us and she almost immediately snapped at me saying “well next time make sure you tell the person who serves you that you’re having 1, I saw 2 plates at the table” she then walked away and I already felt agitated by the unnecessary tone of voice coming from her. When she came back she proceeded to tell us that the bar staff said we had no spare plates so I said that I’ve asked the chef for it, he gave it to us without a problem but she took it off the bill anyway - so what was the point of her comment exactly? And why am I being made to feel like I’m lying? Just petty, the waitress really needs to sort out how she’s speaking to customers, I get that it’s Walsall but we’re not even from Walsall, we had to travel over from Penkridge as Norton Canes had no tables available for that time - and they never have an issue with our children sharing a carvery and they definitely never accuse you of anything. I understand that it’s busy and you get stressed out but there is absolutely no need to be rude. It was the experience throughout. You are also more than welcome to view the cctv and see what happened when I went to get the food. We’ll never go here again and we will always stick to Norton Canes that actually has...
Read moreBeen using this carvery for many year not sure if this is a new manager or hopefully a relief .as usual on a Monday we take the grand son for a meal he's only 3 .while his nan was getting his food he was watching a video on her phone to keep him from not running around the phone was not excessively loud .suddenly their was a tallish skinny guy with a beard in our 3 year old face demanding him to turn it down .at this time his nan returned with his food which would have resulted in him turning it off to eat.then the guy turned to his nan demanding he should have headphones (on a 3 year old ) This resulted in this guy laying the law down to her and being insulting and unprofessional. I asked if he was the manager as i hadn't seen him there before and was told yes I asked how long he had been manager there as he wasn't there the. Monday before and was told "you don't need to know".(as we spent many years in licencing trade again I asked).to b
e told you've never been in the trade.to this I gave him a list of several pubs we've run to be told "I don't think so" After this totally unprofessional act in front of several customers some of them we know from being regular customers of here and dudley (who also said they will be making a official complaint) we left our food and drinks on the table and asked this so called manager the name and number of the area manager to be told again "you don't need to know" If this is the best they can do for managers I can understand why the pub was empty we use the place 2_3 times a week average bill of £80 to £100 if this is how they treat regular customers they won't have many for long Needless to say we left and went to dudley where we were treated with respect and great service as usual.my son also works as a chef for M&B at the myvod in wednesbury so our family is well connected in the...
