Not brilliant guys! Definitely not worth the money we paid. I ordered the filet steak. I asked for no tomatoes or mushrooms but could I have a bigger side salad and coleslaw instead. No coleslaw and the tiny side salad (which tasted gritty like it hadn’t been washed properly) had tomatoes in it!! The steak wasn’t cooked to the specification requested. The peppercorn sauce tasted like garlic - not a peppercorn in sight. For dessert I had the Eton mess which was essentially a load of cream, some fruit and a game of ‘hunt the meringue’. Didn’t finish it as it was essentially cream. The staff were friendly enough. Not super attentive. After our main we asked to pause before looking at dessert and they didn’t bother checking in again, we had to keep going to the bar for drinks and to order dessert. We were sat in the main part by the bar which was pretty warm. No air con or fans provided on a very warm day.

During these difficult times a warm welcome and a friendly smile are more important than ever, and the Cricketers Arms supplies these in abundance, from the owners Jenny and Graham (who have just recently taken the pub over), the wonderful bar staff, and the pub's many faithful regulars. The pub itself is a charming and comfortable old building set in a very pretty, commodious garden which is a delightful place to sit on a sunny day, or you can park yourself by the roaring log fire when it's cold. If all this were not enough to recommend it, a particular plus point for the Cricketers is its food: the Cricketers also has an excellent chef! An excellent regular menu is augmented by an imaginative and ever-changing specials board (which includes locally sourced game when available), and the quality is always outstanding. You really could not want for more!

What a lovely surprise! We had just been for a walk around Cuckmere and were looking for a bite to eat and happened upon this lovely pub. We were greeted straight away by the lovely lady that runs the Cricketer, who was very friendly. It was cold outside so was great to see the fireplace warming the place up inside! I was the pie of the day which was venison and it definitely didn’t disappoint! Perfect pastry too! My other half had scampi served with some gorgeous triple cooked chips. The prices were good too! We’ve been to a lot of country style pubs but this one really ticked all the boxes…including being dog friendly…really put a big smile on our face! Thanks

Really recommend the roast for quality, quantity and price. The only downside is the potatoes which are a bit chewy, I guess from being cooked and kept warm or reheated but overall the food is really good. On this occasion, after having our roast we waited 20mins for a server to offer desserts, no one came so we asked someone if we could order them. They brought us menus and never returned, another 20mins passed and we gave up. This time going to the bar to ask for the bill as there was no one about to request this either. A table in the same room went to get their bill and another had to get up and ask someone to take their order. There didn't seem to be an issue with staffing as plenty were about when we first ordered and several stuck their head out of the kitchen but never actually came out to speak to the customers. We were a group of 4 and would have ordered more drinks and puddings if someone served us (another £40-50) - instead we went to a supermarket and picked one up for home! Would return but service...

REPLY: There are no lights along the path leading from the front of the pub, down the side to the car park at the rear. There are lights in the car park, and lights at the front of the pub, but not down the side.

Bit of a sarky comment about the ketchup and chips. Probably not the best way to reply to your customers. I will be ensuring people I know don't visit your establishment due to the poor customer relation skills you have evidently shown.

Updated my review from 3 to 1 stars for your poor reply. Have a nice day.

Cosy pub in the quiet village of Berwick. Car-park at the far rear of the pub grounds. No lighting along the path there so a little difficult when you come out late at night.

Food was nothing special - the chips were pretty tasteless and the ketchup to accompany the food was pretty poor.

Diet coke was entirely flat. Asked to exchange it and the replacement tasted slightly better but was still...
