The Grove — Restaurant in Welwyn Hatfield

Good value pub food and a nice play area for children in the garden.

Sadly the garden is not very well cared for, with often overgrown grass and randomly placed tables. Smoking is also allowed in the garden right by the kids play area which is not right. If this wasn't the case, we'd visit more often. Hopefully the upcoming refit will address this.

Updating this review following a recent visit after the refurbishment. The outside and inside of the pub now look nicer, the garden has been tidied up, and the play equipment given a touch of paint. A definite improvement.

I try not to be too critical of hospitality venues in the current climate but,....oh dear. I attended The Grove to celebrate a friend's milestone birthday but having too endure a 30 - 40 minute wait before being served, every time you wanted a drink, took the shine off the evening. The bar was busy but, not a 30 - 40 minute wait busy. The problem was the staff, totally incompetent doesn't really cover it. Very surprised that Greene King allows one of the establishments too be run in such a way, the service is atrocious! When you think it can't get any worse, you drink comes served in a plastic cup. I come here regularly with friends and family and have always loved the atmosphere food and service. Kids have a great time whilst adults can enjoy the garden. Recently there has been one member of staff that has not only put myself of coming here but all our friends and family. Young girl named Megan who is blunt with all customers launches your plate down in front of you had no manors , and is completely miserable. Having spoken to other regulars we are not the only ones who feel this way or experienced the attitude. We have ended up leaving the pub to go to another due to her service.
